Kevin Feige Says That The Marvel Comic Universe Will Get A Transgender Character Very Soon

Marvel Studios has a sort of checkered history when it comes to the gays. Kristen Stewart has alleged that she’s heard from people she’d have been a Marvel superstar by now if she toned-down the lesbianism. And what’s passed as representation in the movie universe so far has been… irrelevant? Pretty much? Well The Eternals is supposed to change that with their first gay superhero who like has a family and holds another man’s hand. That’s nice, but if it ain’t Kumail Nanjiani and Richard Madden Eiffel Towering some twink, I ain’t interested.

Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, is now saying they’re taking that LGBTQIA representation further down the letters! They are now all the way at T and will feature a transgender character in an upcoming movie. Scarlett Johansson is ready!

IGN says that Kevin was a guest speaker at the New York Film Academy recently and he talked about a ton of stuff. During the chat he talks about working on the Marvel films and answered a lot of fan questions. There were some about filmmaking and about the comics and Kevin basically confirmed that Elizabeth Olsen is the most powerful person in the MCU. Those Olsens have so much reach…

Another question to Kevin was about LGBTQ+ representation in the Marvel movies as a student asked about if the studio were going to be adding transgender characters. Kevin let that student know they were jumping in the transgender deep-end and a character would be coming very soon:

“Yes, absolutely yes. And very soon. In a movie we’re shooting right now.”

Marvel’s Black Widow and The Eternals are both currently in active development so hopefully he’s not referring to Scarlett and The Eternals will be the most diverse movie yet. Can’t wait to see what kind transgender representation Disney lets Marvel get away with. I’m sure it will be extensive.
