Open Post: Hosted By The British Tortoise Who Set Its House On Fire On Christmas

This is what happens when you don’t get the family pet the subscription to Disney+ that it wanted for Christmas! Huffpost reported on this crabby-looking tortoise from Great Dunmow (a town about 45 miles northeast of London) that tried to burn his forever home down on Christmas!

The Essex Fire Service tweeted this out on Christmas Day:

Firefighters were called to the home where, according to the incident report, they found the house full of smoke and one room aflame!

“The fire started after the tortoise knocked a heat lamp onto its bedding, which then caught alight,” Gary Wain, watch manager at the Great Dunmow Fire Station, said. “This tortoise has had a very lucky Christmas Day ― he is 45 years young and will now hopefully continue to live a long and happy life thanks to working smoke alarms.”

He doesn’t look angry, exactly. The unnamed tortoise looks annoyed that he had to work up the moxie to crawl incredibly slowly over to whatever surface the heat lamp was on, and then muster up the strength to somehow knock it over onto his bed as a protest over not being able to watch The Mandalorian like all of his other turtle friends can. Or he was irked that he didn’t get a Hatchimal or whatever. Bet they won’t deny him what he wants next Christmas, will they?
