Prince Harry And Duchess Meghan Are Spending Their Holiday In British Columbia

When Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan decided they wanted to get the hell out of the UK for Christmas, they settled on Canada. We didn’t know whereabout in Canada they’d be staying with Archie. Meghan used to work and live in Toronto, so that seemed like an option. But to really get away from all the family drama and nosy shit disturbers in the British press, they chose to hide away in the wilderness of the west coast. Or at least as wilderness-y as two rich city folks can handle.

The Vancouver Sun reports that Harry and Meghan are currently on Vancouver Island in and around Victoria, British Columbia where one of the owners of an upscale seafood restaurant called the Deep Cove Chalet said that Harry has been seen numerous times hiking around Horth Hill Regional Park. Both Meghan and Harry have also been seen “jogging around.” Victoria is really private, because I’m surprised there’s no pictures of Harry in jogging shorts.

But it’s not all jogs and walks for Harry and Meghan. They also ran into some trouble. Harry and Meghan’s security team reportedly reached out to the Deep Cove Chalet for a reservation. Bev Koffel, one of the owners, says that her husband Pierre denied their request, because he didn’t like how much security they’d be bringing with them. Bev says their security team didn’t identify them by name, but it was pretty obvious who the reservation was for, since Harry and Meghan have been seen numerous times in the neighborhood. However, Bev hopes there’s no hard feelings:

“It’s kind of exciting. I hope everything goes fine for them. They’re breaking away from tradition and I just wish them all the best. Let them have their peace and quiet. For us to be so lucky to have them in the area, how lucky is that? I wish them all the privacy they can possibly get. They deserve it.”

Imagine being a member of the royal family and getting turned down at a fish restaurant? How positively regular of them! Actually, they probably loved it. Harry and Meghan want to raise Archie as normal and non-royal as possible. And nothing sums up the regular Canadian family experience more than having to say, “Well, we can’t get a reservation for dinner. Start the car, we’re getting festive specials from Swiss Chalet.”
