R. Kelly Pleads Not Guilty To Bribing An Official To Marry A 15-Year-Old Aaliyah

TMZ says that R. Kelly has pleaded not guilty for getting a 15-year-old Aaliyah a fake ID so he could marry her.

R. Kelly’s legal team, who at this point must be getting paid in dreams and R. Kelly memorabilia, have entered a not guilty plea for him. He was indicted earlier this month for allegedly bribing a government employee in making the fake ID for child, Aaliyah, to marry grown pervert, R. Kelly. Her family reportedly annulled the marriage the next year, and now all these years later he’s got charged in connection with it adding on to his racketeering, child sex tapes, sex crimes, yadayadayada. This man has more indictments than El Chapo.

Meanwhile, more of R. Kelly’s people are throwing him under the bus, as his ex-tour manager, Demetrius Smith, spoke with TMZ about this for some reason which I truly cannot understand. Truly cannot–does not look good in the interview.

He told TMZ that he was the one who obtained the fake ID for R. Kelly and that he did so to “buy time” to stop Aaliyah from marrying him. Helping him get a fake ID really only helps do that, but okay. He also said the ID did not have Aaliyah’s age on it–which: why would it? What ID says your age? You update it every year? It says date of birth and then you do the math. The fuck does he think an ID is?

Demetrius also suggests that R. Kelly did know that Aaliyah was 15 when he married her in 1994–which would track since R. Kelly knew her personally, so there’s not really a logical plotline where he didn’t know. He also said the marriage to Aaliyah was not what he wanted and he knows better now:

“What I should have done was call Aaliyah’s parents.”

You think?! And also the po-lice while you’re at it! Demetrius said that he will testify in court but that he doesn’t want R. Kelly to rot in prison. Too late. Here’s Demetrius speaking with TMZ Live:

Can you believe this has been going on since ’94? Why was R. Kelly not stopped sooner? I mean, did you see the That’s So Raven R. Kelly underage-reference?

Even That’s So Raven knew!
