Emilia Clarke Is No Longer Taking Selfies With Fans

If you’re an Emilia Clarke stan (which that dog is obviously not) hoping to get a selfie with the Queen of Dragons, too bad–she is done with all that. Sorry Meghan McCain. But she has a good reason and she’s not saying “fuck off” completely. She’s just over the whole selfie thing after getting accosted for one during a crying-filled panic attack in an airport. I mean, I guess a picture of a celebrity is still cool even if they’re in distress? It’s definitely more valuable to TMZ.

The Sun says that earlier this year, Emilia talked about having two brain aneurysms during Game Of Thrones and had to get literal brain surgery. She was afraid to tell the HBO people because she didn’t wanna get fired. Emilia didn’t die and she didn’t get fired, so things turned out all right. So it’s not a stretch to learn that Emilia is now one of those people who examines their life and the way they live it. And now she’s decided to cut something out of her life. Selfies with you.

The Sun says she explained one moment in an airport where a guy caught her at a bad time and helped turn her off selfies:

“I was walking through an airport and I started having a panic attack brought on by complete exhaustion… I’m crying and this guy’s like, “Can I get a selfie?” And I was like, “I can’t breathe, I’m really sorry…” It was after a few moments like that where I was like, “I don’t know how to do this.”

While on the Table Manners with Jessie Ware podcast, Emilia talked about her life in the spotlight and there were some moments where people asked for selfies at crazy times. Like when she was woken up on a plane to get a selfie. But Emilia does still want to talk to fans, she just wants to feel like a human and not a statue you bother with a picture and then move on from. She said on the podcast:

“I will sign something… When you do that you have to have an interaction with that person, as opposed to someone just going, “Give us a selfie, goodbye”. It turns into, “Right, what’s your name? Who am I making it out to?” Then you have a chat and you’re actually having a human-to-human thing, as opposed to it being this thing that probably isn’t nice for them or you.”

To be honest, my anti-social ass would prefer the selfie with no talking. Take a picture with me, don’t speak to me and leave me alone, then I cash my well-secured HBO check. Sounds like the ideal celebrity status to me! Enjoy talking to your fans just keep it casual; sometimes fans and celebrities are better kept apart.
