A Woman Has Accused Harvey Weinstein Of Sexually Assaulting Her When She Was 16

Harvey Weinstein might want to start reinforcing the grip on his favorite walker, because it looks like he’s about to get more mileage out of it. Harvey just reached a $25 million settlement with 30 of his accusers, but he’s still got a criminal trial to deal with next year. And he just got a new lawsuit plopped into his lap. Please don’t be careful while picking that lawsuit up, Harvey – I’d just absolutely not-hate to see you hurt your poor back.

The Hollywood Reporter says that a 33-year-old former model named Kaja Sokola is suing Harvey Weinstein, as well as his brother Bob Weinstein, Miramax, and Disney. Kaja actually accused Harvey last year, but she was listed only as Jane Doe. Now her story has a name and a lawsuit.

Kaja claims that she came to the U.S. from Poland in 2002 with the goal of breaking into modeling. She was 16 at the time, and signed with an agency. She met Harvey at an event that was put on by her modeling agency, and she says that Harvey invited her to lunch to discuss how he could help her break into the film industry. She agreed to meet with him at a restaurant. Instead, Harvey’s driver allegedly took her to his apartment.

Kaja claims that when she arrived, Harvey warned her that if she wanted to succeed as an actress, she’d have to do stuff that made her uncomfortable, like getting naked. and “losing her inhibitions.” She alleges that he then proceeded to “terrify and sexually abuse” her. When it was over, Harvey allegedly told her that what happened “was normal.” He wasn’t exactly lying – after all, we know that acting like a demon from the pits of Hell is totally normal behavior for him.

Kaja is suing Harvey for battery, and is suing Bob, Miramax, and Disney for negligence, as she believes they enabled him. Her lawyers issued a statement, saying that Harvey shouldn’t get to skate away from his settlement without admitting guilt:

“While others may have decided to settle, albeit under some of the most offensive and one-sided terms, we hope that the filing of this complaint encourages other victims and the New York Attorney General to join us as we continue our efforts at holding Harvey Weinstein and his enablers accountable.”

She’s also not restricted by any statutes of limitations. THR points out that Kaja’s lawyers are presenting her lawsuit under New York’s recently enacted Child Victim’s Act. The CVA was passed in January 2019, and provides survivors of sex abuse with the opportunity to sue their abusers in civil cases until the age of 55 (it used to be just 23). When it comes to criminal cases, they have until 28. Kaja’s is a civil case, and she’s 33, so she’s very much within her legal rights.

In Kaja’s original accusation from last year, she claimed that Harvey promised her he’d hook her up with gigs like America’s Next Top Model, but that that never happened. None of his promises ever manifested into actual work. She should add an amendment to her lawsuit, and double-sue him for blatant delusion. Harvey has recently claimed that he was Hollywood’s biggest champion of women, and that no one got more work for women in the entertainment industry that he did. And yet he couldn’t manage to hook Kaja up with a spot on ANTM? That was the easiest show to get on in the 2000s. It felt like there was a new season every five months. I’m pretty sure the only qualifications were being able to walk, and owning a denim miniskirt.
