Sources Claim Lori Loughlin Was “Hoodwinked” By Rick Singer In College Admissions Scandal

Lori Loughlin has been claiming for months that she and her husband Mossimo Giannulli will be “exonerated” at trial. We were wondering how that was going to happen since others who did exactly what they (allegedly) did in the College Admissions Scandal admitted guilt, including paying mastermind Rick Singer to get their child into the school of their choice. But then Lori busted out her official Defense™, claiming that she thought her money was going to “underprivileged children.” I mean… it’s a reach, but go big or go to prison, amirite?

Well, more sources are talking and they say that Lori claims to have been “hoodwinked” by Rick Singer.

Lori Loughlin and her husband have been accused of using $500,000 to fake their daughters’ credentials and get their way into USC. Lori did not cop a plea even though she was given many, many, many chances to. Instead, Lori and Mossimo pleaded not guilty to bribery, money laundering and other money-related charges which could land them in the clink for a pretty long time.

Lori wants to avoid that, so she has been on the defense for quite some time. That culminated in Lori and Mossimo claiming they thought their money was going to a charitable cause and so that’s not a bribe, because donating to fund a school or program in exchange for admittance into college is, I guess, different than giving money to fund one person’s expensive lifestyle in exchange for admittance into college.

People has sources saying that Lori has claimed that documents being “withheld” by the prosecution will help exonerate her. They want to share some of Rick’s statements to the FBI to prove that Lori and Mossimo didn’t know their donations would be used as bribes. A source explains that Lori did not fully understand her alleged actions:

“Lori was hoodwinked by Rick Singer. There’s no other way to put it. She was convinced that she was making a donation, just like parents have been doing for years… She did not have any intent to do something illegal, and in fact she thought she was doing the right thing. That’s why she hasn’t pleaded guilty; frankly, she believes that she is innocent and that the evidence shown in court will prove that. Unfortunately, it seems as though the prosecution is hell-bent on making examples out of people, and not playing fair.”

There’s a couple of holes in this plot. Why did Mossimo freak out on the counselor for asking about the rowing? And why did Mossimo, in an email, agree to fake those rowing pictures? He uses the term “work the system” in some emails. And what does rowing have to do with a charitable donation to underprivileged children in the first place? And how did it happen twice, a year apart? The way I see it is that for this to make sense, Lori needs to throw her husband under the bus. Lori’s friends have already told her to, so maybe she should consider it. Otherwise, she should come up with a better story. Even the Kardashians have more believable plotlines.
