Prince Harry And Duchess Meghan Will Skip All Royal Christmas Parties This Season

We already knew that Prince Harry, Duchess Meghan, and Archie would be bailing on Queen Elizabeth’s annual Christmas to-do at her estate in Sandringham, because they wanted to spend Christmas in Los Angeles with Meghan’s mom Doria Ragland. But a source has recently revealed to The Daily Mail that they won’t be at any of The Queen’s holiday parties this year.

The Queen had two Christmas parties scheduled for this week, one this evening, and one on Wednesday. Tonight is the annual staff Christmas party at Buckingham Palace. The Queen’s security detail should keep their eyes out for any possible party crashers trying to sneak in with an orange wig and patchy drawn-on beard situation, or claiming “I’m on the list” in a British-spiced California accent. Harry and Meghan will not be attending this evening. But, one source swears they’re not skipping the party because there’s drama.

“As the couple made clear a few weeks ago, they are taking some time away together as a family,” said one. “This means that they will miss Christmas events.”

Harry and Meghan are currently on a six-week break from royal duties and a Christmas party at the palace is technically considered a work event. So that is why they’ll be MIA this evening. However, they’re also not doing family events either. Another source says that Harry and Meghan are skipping a family pre-Christmas turkey lunch and tree-trimming day on Wednesday. Apparently The Queen is a-ok with that.

Insiders stressed there was no snub “whatsoever” intended and the couple had already informed the Queen, who is understanding of the situation.

Even though Harry and Meghan have made it very clear that they’d be forwarding all work calls to voicemail during November and December, sources claim that they were kind of expecting Harry and Meghan to show up on Wednesday, considering it’s just a friendly get-together and not a work commitment. Decorations went up around Buckingham Palace last week.

Sources also say that royal officials were hoping Harry and Meghan would show up for the staff party tonight. As it stands, they’re rumored to be away from the UK until some time in January. So, sorry Fergie – you won’t get a chance to pull Meghan aside and talk shit about the British press together.

But this also means that Archie will be missing out on his first royal Christmas party. The Daily Mail says that children are invited to The Queen’s turkey lunch on Wednesday, and that they get their own special kids room to hang out in and eat a special pre-Christmas lunch. It’s probably for the best that Archie is skipping that party. Harry and Meghan are reportedly trying to raise Archie as normal as possible. And nothing will warp a kid’s sense of reality faster than watching his older cousin Prince George snap his finger and demand to know who had the audacity to serve him such a pedestrian grocery store bird. “That might be acceptable for my half-American cousin over there, but I believe I specifically requested a pre-Christmas meal of hand-foraged partridge served in a pear tree.
