Hot Slut Of The Day!
Cröonchy Stars cereal!
In the late 80s, The godfather of the Muppets, Jim Henson, wanted to be a part of your breakfast eating time, so he painstakingly worked with Post to create a very special and unique cereal. And by “painstakingly,” I mean, those lazies at Post stole the recipe of Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal from General Mills and just made it into star shapes instead of toast shapes and called it Cröonchy Stars!
Wired says that the idea actually came from Jim Henson after he convinced Post to let him do a cereal in 1988. Jim came up with the idea to make the Swedish Chef the star of the cereal. Now, to me, a Swedish cereal would be lingonberries-stuffed meatballs, but Cröonchy Stars was “cinnamonnamony” and tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Jim supposedly focused a lot on the box, because he thought cereal boxes of the time did nothing but induce sleep.
Jim Henson never liked cereal boxes, although he loved to eat cereal. He claimed the boxes were too boring, so his first idea was to create a cereal box that was a bit of fun. This was done with a colorful design, as well as games & puzzles on the box. This included one contest to see how many times you could find the word “rutabaga” hidden on the box and how many times it was spelled correctly. Of course, this was complicated by the statement on the box that read, “if we spell it right in the contest rules, then you’ll automatically KNOW how to spell it right.”
The star shape idea came from Jim thinking that while making the cereal, the Swedish Chef gets hit by the head with something and sees stars.
Cröonchy Stars only lasted a year, but Wikipedia says Post brought it back for a limited time in 1992.
There’s an easy explanation for why Cröonchy Stars didn’t last that long. It was a victim of false advertising. I mean, look at that commercial. Many were probably pissed when they took a bite of Cröonchy Stars and didn’t go up, up, and away and get higher than the already cracked out Swedish Chef. Post is lucky that a class action lawsuit wasn’t filed against them!
