Lizzo Says Her Butt Cheeks Never Touched The Seats At The Lakers Game

At the beginning of this week, a video hit the internet featuring an incredibly joyful Lizzo twerking at a Los Angeles Lakers vs Minnesota Timberwolves game at the Staples Center while the Laker Girls performed to her song “Juice.” Some people were grossed out at the thought of a nearly-bare butt bouncing around in a public space. And Lizzo is here to tell all her twerk haters that they can calm down, because she didn’t leave ass germs on her seat.
While some people were happy to see Lizzo shaking her ass like a can of interior latex in a hardware store paint can shaker, some were not. People magazine says that those displeased with Lizzo’s twerking took to social media to express their feelings, saying that it was inappropriate to be so raunchy around children and families. Lizzo responded to their criticisms saying:
“It doesn’t really matter what goes on on the internet, nothing really breaks my joy. I’m a really solid, grounded person, and I know that I’m shocking because you’ve never seen – in a long time – a body like mine doing whatever it wants to do and dressing the way that it dresses and moving the way that it moves.”
Lizzo further addressed the situation during an appearance on CBS This Morning yesterday, explaining that it took her a long time to be comfortable with her body, and now that she is, she’s not going to hide it. And speaking of her butt being out there, she says it was covered by nylons.
“I got up and just did what I always do. Anyone who knows me knows this is how I’ve always been, this is how I’ve always liked to dress,” she added, before noting that she wasn’t just wearing a thong underneath the dress. “I had on layers down there, so it wasn’t just flesh to seats, contrary to popular belief.”
Here is Lizzo brushing off the haters while looking like Cruella de Vil’s faux fur-wearing cousin, Cruellatee Frée.
"You know how long it took me to fall in love with this body? My butt was my least favorite thing about myself. And I learned to love it. And now it's the thing everybody can't stop talking about… Be you. Do you. Don't let anybody steal your joy." — @Lizzo pic.twitter.com/nxAGXCOkHg

"It's their opinion, so it's not for me to really ingest… So I got up and did what I always do. Anyone who knows me knows that this is how I've always been. This is how I've always liked to dress." – @Lizzo reacts to her dancing at the @Lakers game pic.twitter.com/tMZ3xVgJob

For all the people who didn’t like seeing Lizzo’s moves, there are just as many who were feeling it. Tommy Hilfiger saw the video of Lizzo dancing and called her “a star,” while the Houston Rockets have extended an invitation for Lizzo to come and dance anytime.
💃@Lizzo, we like your moves! You have an open invite to come home to Houston and dance with @OfficialCCD on the court any time! pic.twitter.com/URCrkCUJPr

When Michael first wrote about Lizzo’s courtside twerk show earlier this week, he pointed out that Lizzo could have caught an entire CDC’s watch list of germs from those stadium seats. But now we know that she had some protection that kept her safe. At least from the germs on the seats. She was still very much at risk of the drunkest person in her section getting inspired, putting on a little twerk show of their own, and bouncing up a stomach full of partially digested nachos and beer.
