The SAG Award Nominations Were Led By America’s Tree, Scarlett Johansson

Love it or hate, it’s Scarlett Johansson’s world and we’re just living in it. Like literally, everything from the trees in the forest to all the hysterical wives in Brooklyn, it’s all Scarlett, all the time. Scarlett earned three Screen Actors Guild nominations today, and we have to assume her dear friend Woody Allen was one of the first calls she made when she heard the news. According to Variety, Scarlett got two noms for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role for Jojo Rabbit and Marriage Story, as well as a nomination in the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture category for Jojo Rabbit. Add that to her Golden Globe nomination announced earlier this week, they’re probably just going to go ahead and call movies “Scarletts” from now on.

As it did with the Golden Globes, The Irishman did particularly well earning nominations for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture, and two acting noms for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for Al Pacino and Joe Pesci. Bombshell (ensemble cast, plus nods for Charlize Theron for Outstanding Female Actor and Supporting Role nods for Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie) and Once Upon A Time In Hollywood (ensemble cast, stunt cast, plus acting noms for Leonardo DiCaprio for Lead Actor and Brad Pitt for Supporting Actor) also earned four nominations each. All of which (yes, stunts included) could have been played by Scarlett if she wasn’t already so #BookedAndBlessed.

In the TV categories, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel came out on top with four nominations for Ensemble In a Comedy Series, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for Tony Shalhoub, and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for both Alex Borstein and Rachel Brosnahan. By network, Netflix beat HBO for total nominations, 13 to 10. Most importantly though, is that Catherine O’Hara got nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for Schitt’s Creek. Any other nomination, in any other category, is superfluous. But just in case you’re curious, here they are:
