Snooki Says She Is Done With “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation”

It’s the end of an era. The party is no longer here. The pickle jar lid will no longer be covered in teeny-tiny self-tanner handprints. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has announced that she is officially submitting her notice of retirement from Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. The quack quack quack of the duck phone will be turned off in observation of a moment of silence.

Us Weekly says that 32-year-old Snooki broke the news on the most recent episode of her podcast, It’s Happening with Snooki & Joey. Snooki says it was “definitely a hard decision” to make, but she just can’t return to the shore in any future capacity, because she wants to be home with her kids, Lorenzo (7), Giovanna (5), and Angelo (6 months).

“OK, you guys, I love you so much, and don’t hate me for my decision, but I have to do what’s best for me at the moment, and I am retiring from Jersey Shore. I am not coming back to Jersey Shore [Family Vacation] for a season 4, if there is one. And there’s a lot of reasons why, but the main reason is really…I’m just like, I just can’t do it anymore. I hate being away from the kids.”

Snooki made her reality TV debut on the MTV dating show Is She Really Going Out with Him in 2009. That same year, Jersey Shore premiered, and she became a huge star. She’s appeared on the Jersey Shore spin-offs Snooki & Jwoww, Snooki & Jwoww: Moms With Attitude, and Nicole & Jionni’s Shore Flip. She most recently returned for the all-grown-up (yet still very messy) reunion series, Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which wrapped its third season last month. Snooki could have a career as a professional shore-hopper for the rest of her life, but drinking at the crack of whenever isn’t something she’s into anymore.

“I don’t like partying three days in a row. It’s just not my life anymore. And I wanna be home with the kids. You know, like, I don’t mind a here and there going to a dinner or whatever, but it’s just really hard on me to leave the kids and film the show.”

The most recent seasons of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation have been a lot like some people’s actual family vacations, in that they stop speaking to each other three days in. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino found himself in prison for tax evasion. Ronnie Ortiz-Magro continues to be the posterboy for anger management classes. Jwoww dumped her boyfriend after he got handsy with Angelina Parvenick. That’s not the kind of family vacation Snooki signed up for:

“You know, when I leave my kids and I film the show, like, I want to have a good time. And I’m putting myself out there, and I just wanna come off as a good person. And lately, on the show, it’s just been very drama.

I don’t want that, and I’m not leaving my kids for days on end when that’s the result of it. I just don’t like the turnout of it, and I don’t like the person I’m portrayed as.”

So basically, she doesn’t want to be portrayed as a pint-sized party girl that gets caught in the middle of everyone’s drama. Fine, I get it, but did Snooki literally just watch her first episode of Jersey Shore yesterday?
