Alanis Morissette, Liz Phair, And Garbage Are Going On Tour This Summer
Well, well, well. Isn’t it ironic that Alanis Morissette is going on tour this summer? Why is it ironic? No one knows. Certainly not Alanis. But it’s true! Alanis Morissette, Liz Phair, and Garbage are going on tour this summer. Myself and every 90s angsty teen who had girl/boy drama is living for this tour. The next few months will be spent getting our flannels or short shiny dresses ready, dusting off those Doc Martins and reviving our rage at Uncle Joey from Full House for breaking Alanis’s heart AFTER SHE WENT DOWN ON HIM IN A THEATRE.
Variety reports that the tour starts on June 20th:
Alanis Morissette announced dates Monday for a 31-stop “Jagged Little Pill” 25th anniversary tour, launching on June 20 in Portland, Oregon. The tour is a virtual badass 1990s female-artist nostalgia tour, as she will be joined by special guests Garbage and Liz Phair.
The tour will follow the “Jagged Little Pill” Broadway musical, which launches Thursday at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York. The musical is directed by Tony Award winner Diane Paulus (“Waitress,” “Pippin”) and features an original story by Academy Award-winning writer Diablo Cody (“Juno,” “Tully”).
This tour speaks so much to me, not just because I’m still full of rage about Uncle Joey, but also because I just saw Jagged Little Pill on Broadway and it was amazing. Also, some of us couldn’t afford Lilith Fair tickets back in the day, so I’m excited we get our own smaller/angrier version of Lilith Fair.
And look Alanis may need money after popping out her third kid and dealing with her manager stealing millions from her. I have no idea what Liz Phair and Garbage have been up to, but a check is only a good thing. And I’m excited they’re back with their cozy, fuzzy sweaters and their yelling about being a stupid girl. We need more women in fuzzy sweaters showing their lady rage while burning an Uncle Joey effigy (a Joeffigy).
