Open Post: Hosted By Céline Dion Giving Her Opinion On The “Titanic” Door Debate

National Treasure (of Canada–we claim that French-Canadian Queen, thanks!) Céline Dion was on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon talking about her new album Courage. Well since Céline is about as synonymous with the movie Titanic as The Titanic is with icebergs, he had to ask her about a topic which has been reignited in the public sphere lately. Of course I’m talking about that goddamn door. Did Céline think that Rose could have saved Jack’s life by scooting over a few inches? She has an answer.
At first fashun inconne Céline didn’t want to wade (no pun intended) into the debate because “what if they do Titanic 2?!” Which, considering the Hollywood landscape, is definitely something that could happen. But then Céline caved and let us know her thoughts on the controversy:
“Listen first of all, if you look closely to the picture Rose is maybe dead or totally frozen, and she’s not quite all there. Second of all, he doesn’t need an invitation… Come on baby, make yourself comfortable, jump in. And who did not think that this guy, who’s in the middle of the frozen ocean and that maybe all his body is so frozen that maybe he didn’t have the strength to jump in! For my love.”
That led to Celine and Jimmy singing Jump (For My Love).
So there you have it, Céline has spoken on the door debate and I gotta say, it’s such a Canadian answer–no one really gets blamed. Jack is too cold and weak, and Rose is the same; those are some rational facts coming from a woman who talks into shoes and can sing about peanut butter at the drop of a hat–Céline has many sides.
Here’s Céline on The Tonight Show, and stick around to the end when she shows how she’s aged too far out of generational awareness to know what a selfie is or how to take one:
