Harry Styles Shaded Zayn Malik On “Saturday Night Live”

Many-nippled wonder Harry Styles was the musical guest and host of this past weekend’s Saturday Night Live, and he wasn’t bad, which is saying a lot considering what usually happens when non-actors host that show. Harry also found time to shade his old One Direction group member, Zayn Malik, in his opening monologue, and inspired many to fill Sara Lee’s Instagram comments with thirstiness. But they’re cool with it.

Buzzfeed says that Harry shaded Zayn during his opening monologue of SNL. The two were in One Direction together and after Zayn left he made it pretty clear he hated that shit and every aspect of being involved in it and wasn’t even friends with the guys he had spent endless hours with for years. Well it’s time for some payback in the form of Harry Styles intro monologue.

While listing his band members, Harry jokingly forget one of them, saying:

“I was in a band called One Direction. …How crazy would it be if they were here tonight? …Well, they’re not… I love those guys. They’re my brothers–Niall, Liam, Louis, and, uh… Ringo. Yeah, that’s it.”

Harry’s Zayn joke starts at around the 2:20 mark:

Oh the (mild) shade of it all! The fan girls both got angry and defended Harry:

Harry’s Sara Lee sketch, which was all about a Sara Lee social media worker (Harry) who kept posting thirsty comments on Instagram to people like Nick Jonas. The comments are pretty much what Harry’s Instagram comment section gets filled up.

Slate says that soon Sara Lee’s own real life Instagram page was flooded by comments of “wreck me daddy” and “need a King than can handle” and “spit in my mouth” and much more.

At first it seemed like Sara Lee was mad about this and deleting comments. Writer and SNL actor, Bowen Yang, was disappointed:

But then the truth came out: Sara Lee just needed a minute to understand what was happening to them. Why were they suddenly being flooded with eggplant emojis, mentions of tragic threesomes and who the Hell was “daddy”? Well they saw the SNL sketch, understood what was going on, and put back on comments for you sick fucks out there to thirst in. Sara Lee gave a statement to The Advocate saying:

“We didn’t know about or participate in the creation of the skit so as you can imagine, waking up to all those comments threw us for a bit of a loop. We didn’t delete any comments but did temporarily hide them until we could read through and understand what happened. All comments are now visible and we will be monitoring for any that violate Instagram standards. While the explicit jokes in the skit do not align with Sara Lee Bread’s brand, we know SNL pushes the envelope for laughs and are taking it all in stride.”

If the phrase: “Wreck me daddy,” doesn’t align with your baked goods brand, then I won’t be participating because I feel discriminated against. I need a baked goods brand who can handle!
