Olivia Colman’s Meeting With Prince William “Didn’t Go Very Well”

Oscar-winning delight of an actress Olivia Colman went on Graham Norton’s show to promote the upcoming third season of Netflix’s The Crown. She’s taken over playing THE QUEEN from Claire Foy and Graham asked her if she’s ever hung out with any of the British royals for reals. Liv revealed that she’s kicked it with Prince William before. It sounds like it was a little strained, though, because William made out like he’d rather run a three-legged race with his bro Harry than binge-watch that bloody Crown show.

Hello! reported on Olivia noting that her chat with Willy “didn’t go very well.”

I met Prince William at a dinner and he asked what I was doing at the moment before he quickly added, ‘Actually, I know what you’re doing.’ I was so excited and asked, ‘Have you watched it?’ His answer was a firm, ‘No.’

The second the ominous-sounding “actually, I know what you’re doing” came out of his stiff upper lip, I would have motioned to the nearest royal page for the check and gotten my petticoats outta there. They probably still have dungeons at Buckingham Palace!

Olivia did conclude her story by saying that he was “very charming and very lovely.” She also noted that she met Princess Anne when she was awarded a CBE (Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for her contributions to theater and that her husband Ed Sinclair once stole toilet paper from Buckingham Palace. The Colman-Sinclairs live dangerously!

Olivia is playing Prince William’s gramma so it makes sense that he’d be a little protective. The Crown tends to portray the royals as actual humans, so sometimes Nana Liz can come off as complicated. No one wants to see their Chanel-encased gramma as a real woman! Damn, that family must be dreading the Princess Diana parts.
