Ric Ocasek Cut Paulina Porizkova Out Of His Will, Saying She Abandoned Him

After Ric Ocasek drove up to the great beyond in September at the age of 75, his 54-year-old estranged wife Paulina Porizkova wrote sweet words of love about him on Instagram, saying that even though they had been separated for almost three years, they still lived together, were still a family, and she’s the one who found him dead while bringing him his Sunday morning coffee. From Paulina’s posts, it seemed like they were still very close. But Ric’s will paints a different story, and if Paulina was at the will reading in the mahogany-paneled office of Ric’s lawyer (yes, to me, every will reading is dramatic and takes place in a mahogany-paneled office like in soap operas), she probably gasped through her black fishnet mourning veil after learning that he didn’t even leave her a warped cassette copy of Heartbeat City! Ric didn’t leave Paulina shit, because he claims she abandoned him. The word “petty” just found a new idol in Ric Ocasek.

Page Six says that in Ric’s will, which has been made public, he says that he and Paulina were in the middle of a divorce, so she doesn’t get anything, even if their divorce isn’t finalized before his death. Ric signed the will on August 28, a month before his death.

“I have made no provision for my wife Paulina Porizkova (“Paulina”) as we are in the process of divorcing,” the new-wave icon wrote in his last wishes.

“Even if I should die before our divorce is final … Paulina is not entitled to any elective share … because she has abandoned me.”

Paulina became Ric’s third wife on August 23, 1989 in St. Barts. They met in 1984 while shooting The Cars’ video for Drive when she was 18 years old and he was still married to his second wife Suzanne Otcasek. Ric and Suzanne’s divorce was finalized in 1988. Ric had six sons, two from each marriage. Two of his sons (not the ones he had with Paulina) were also left off of his will.

A financial filing that was filed with Ric’s will claims he only (I say only because this is Ric Ocasek) had $15,000 in cash, $100,000 in “tangible” property, and $5 million in “copyrights.” That seems very low, and I would think he made that much off of me alone from streaming Just What I Needed on a loop over the years. But a Trusts and Estate lawyer tells Page Six that Ric likely had much, much, much more money in assets hidden by trusts.

Like many high-profile deceased stars, Ocasek could have stored away “many millions of dollars worth of assets.”

“That’s the reason people use trusts: to protect their privacy,” the lawyer noted.

It’s possible the two sons who were left out in the will have been compensated through other financial means, a lawyer said.

“I can only assume that they either get nothing, or were provided for in some other way through another trust or with life insurance,” the trusts and estates lawyer said.

That lawyer is probably every kind of right since Ric’s NYC townhouse went on the market last month for $13.9 million.

Paulina hasn’t replaced her kind tributes to Ric on Instagram with two posts with the words “FUCK” and “YOU” on them, so maybe she knew this was coming. Or maybe Ric secretly gave her money through a trust. Who knows what’s going on and we don’t know what happened in their relationship. But if I was Paulina and Ric really did leave me nothing, I’d be wishing that he was able to sip that Sunday morning coffee after I spit in it 35 times, one for every year I gave his ass!
