Aaron Rodgers Is Making Up With His Family

If Aaron Rodgers’ sang his own version of the song “Last Christmas,” the lyrics might go: “For the past couple Christmases, I skipped my parent’s house, because dating Olivia Munn made things weird with my fam.” But this year, Aaron might find himself eating gingerbread linebackers around the family fireplace once again.

Before 2014, most people probably knew Aaron Rodgers as a quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. Then he started dating Olivia Munn, and all of a sudden his life was football and drama. Not long after they got together, it was rumored that Aaron’s family – which includes his network reality TV famous brother Jordan Rodgers – didn’t get along with Olivia. Those rumors eventually turned intoAaron’s family and Olivia HATE EACH OTHER,” and soon enough, Aaron was allegedly not speaking to his family. Aaron’s family thought Olivia had turned him into a phony Hollywood type, and Aaron thought his family members were being unwelcoming assholes to his girlfriend.

After three years of dating drama, Aaron and Olivia called it quits, and said the split was amicable (even though sources said it wasn’t). Even though Aaron and Olive broke up, he still didn’t talk to his family. Last year, Jordan confirmed things were still Dr. Phil-levels of dysfunctional when he called Aaron out on Twitter for not helping out their mom when she had to be evacuated from her home due to the 2018 California wild fires.

Aaron had two choices: He could have issued a public statement kindly requesting his brother to find a new hobby, or attempt fix his broken family dynamic. A source tells E! News that Aaron has chosen door number two. And it sounds like the driving force – all pun intended – is his current girlfriend, former race car driver Danica Patrick.

“Things between Aaron and his family are improving, slowly, but it is happening,” an insider told E! News exclusively. “Aaron is back on speaking terms with his family, including his brother Jordan, and it’s really all happening with the help of Danica, who is bridging the gap between everyone. She is doing everything she can to bring the Rogers clan back together and help them return to being a real family once again.”

The source goes on to say that Aaron’s family has been open to the reconciliation, and that Danica is a “guiding and loving” influence in Aaron’s life. Speaking of love, things are going so well that Aaron might get an invitation to Jordan’s wedding with former Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher. Aaron missed out on the wedding of his older brother Luke Rodgers in April of this year, as he was still estranged at the time. But they’re working on it, little by little.

For the Rodgers family, “it’s been a long and painful road,” according to the source, but “things are building back little by little for them.”

Aaron picked the perfect time to get back together with his family, because the days and months leading up to a wedding can be a lot for normal people, but I can only imagine what wedding planning is like for two reality TV people. Instead of one engagement party, there’s probably four, each broadcast live on Instagram and sponsored by a different monthly protein shake subscription service. At least one of the rehearsal dinners will turn out to be a challenge for an  episode of Cash Pad or Battle of the Fittest Couples. And ew, who wants that? So Aaron has the perfect out. He can just make up a vague excuse that he’s implementing some new boundaries that prevent him from signing release forms provided by family members, because he was just too triggered by his Hollywood dating experience.
