Karamo Brown And Sean Spicer Are Still Very Good Friends

When the cast of the 28th season of Dancing With The Stars was announced back in August, a whole lot of people were not feeling ABC’s choice to throw Sean Spicer into the mix. Even DWTS host Tom Bergeron was basically like, “*cough* stunt casting *cough*“. But Sean found an unlikely ally in his fellow DWTS cast member Karamo Brown, who is still clearly very much on Team Spicy.

After Karamo first grabbed his pom-poms and cheered on the sidelines for Sean Spicer by calling him a “good guy,” the internet responded by educating Karamo on just how allegedly good Sean Spicer is. Which is to say, not nearly as good as Karamo thinks, considering all of the times Sean lied for Trump. Karamo eventually deactivated his Twitter account.

Karamo was the 4th contestant eliminated on Monday night’s episode of DWTS, and he said his goodbyes after the show to a crowd of reporters. Because of some kind of haunted monkey’s paw wish, Sean Spicer is still on the show, despite having the lowest scores three weeks in a row. So Sean said goodbye to Karamo, and that’s when we got this moment:

Karamo said:

“This is America uniting right now. Okay? I’m just letting you know, this is America uniting. No one thought this was about to be happening, alright?”

If I was Karamo’s partner, I’d probably be thinking, “Well apparently we both look like clowns tonight.

People says that Karamo got even more mileage out of his friendship with Sean Spicer, by explaining to reporters that it was his goal going into the show to be an example of kindness to everyone, no matter their political affiliation.

“My goal coming into this was to introduce myself to people who have never seen Queer Eye, to let them know who I am. And also, my goal has always been to show how if you can show kindness and lead with love, things can change. Day one I got backlash [for supporting Spicer]. I started this show with people telling me, ‘You’re horrible, you’re crazy, you’re stupid.’ Because I showed someone who has a different political view than mine kindness.”

It kind of sounds like Karamo admitted that he dove head-first into this friendship in an attempt to get some new Queer Eye viewers in the right-wing red states. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a totally real and true friendship. Sean spoke about his “good friend” Karamo getting eliminated, and got teary while doing so.

Karamo claimed after his elimination on Monday that he worked really hard to open Sean’s eyes to all the shitty things Sean did in the White House, and Sean is totally a changed man. Maybe if Karamo spent more time in dance rehearsals and less time working some asshole rehab program, he might still be around? I don’t know, just putting that out there.

“Through this process, Sean’s trailer has been next to mine and I have literally every day been planting seeds in his heart. ‘When you made this comment, it hurt me as a man. When you made this comment, it hurt me as a person of color. When you made this comment, it hurt me as a gay man.’ And literally, I could see each week those seeds…blossoming and that’s why he got emotional [when I was sent home].

He got emotional because he’s realizing that I’m not someone you should be attacking in the media. I’m a human being. And if I can touch his heart, I’m about to go through and make a tour of Washington! I still want Trump out of office, but you know. That was the goal [with Spicer]. That was the goal.”

What Karamo said is probably not going to change the internet’s position on the matter. But that’s not to say everyone will hate it. I have a feeling Karamo is about to come home to find a gift basket with a note in Ellen DeGeneres’ handwriting that says, “Thank you for being the new face of tone-deaf gay people, I appreciate it.
