Elton John Used Lady Gaga To Keep His Feud With Madonna Going
You’d think it was Pride with a post title that gay. In Elton John’s memoir Me, he engages in his favorite pastime: publicly defecating on Madonna! Some guys rock climb, others quilt, Elton drags Madge. In the book, according to Yahoo!, he talks about that time Madonna claimed that Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” was a copy of her song “Express Yourself” with some problematic lyrics about “orientals” thrown. Elton says that Madonna was “nasty” about it. I would have gone with “smug” but your mileage may vary.
Elton admits that the two songs “definitely sounded familiar” but he didn’t get why M was so cranky about it.
He “couldn’t see why [Madonna] was so ungracious and nasty about it — particularly when she claims to be a champion for women,” he added.
“I think it’s just wrong — an established artist shouldn’t kick down a younger artist right at the start of their career,” he wrote.
The queen of the gay mafia, 72, famously called Madonna the c-word in 2012, so this gentle condemnation is practically sweet butterfly kisses compared to what he’s normally hissing at her.
Elton revealed that his friendship with Madge ended when his critique of her reaction to Gaga (including that c-bomb and calling her a “fairground stripper”) made it on the air due to an outtake from a 2012 Australian television interview. By the way, Gaga is godmother to his two kids with husband David Furnish.
He touched upon his reaction in his book, recalling, “I was furious and I said some pretty horrible things about her to a TV interviewer in Australia, a guy I’d known since the ‘70s called Molly Meldrum.
“You can tell from the footage that it wasn’t part of the interview, that I was just sounding off to an old friend between takes.
“They broadcast it anyway, which brought that particular old friendship to a very swift conclusion,” “Still, I shouldn’t have said it. I apologized.”
The real revelation from this is that he was ever friends with Madonna? He’s been shitting on Madge like it’s his job for years now!
