Open Post: Hosted By A Clip Of The Song For “Cats That Taylor Swift Wrote With Andrew Lloyd Webber
Taylor Swift‘s wet dream is officially complete. As you know, Taylor was cast to be one of those demonic looking entities which are apparently cats in the Cats movie which is coming out at Christmastime. Not only did Taylor get to play a cat (her favorite animal) in a musical (she’s a singer, hello?!) but she also got to write an original song for it with Patti LuPone’s favorite person. Taylor Swift creating an original song for the movie Cats where she plays a cat?! The only way this could get better would be if those demonic cats were all being served Scooter Braun‘s head in their food dish!
Beautiful Ghosts was written by Taylor and Andrew Lloyd Webber so we can’t rag on it too hard since he’s like a legend or whatever. The song is sung by the main hellspawn cat, Victoria, but you better fucking believe that Taylor recorded her own studio version. In a featurette released by Universal Pictures, Andrew Lloyd and Tom Hooper, the director and screenwriter of the movie, all worship Taylor’s song-writing skills. Apparently Taylor heard Andrew Lloyd’s musical composition and just wrote the lyrics“then and there, more or less”. But Tom is the one who really lays it on thick:
“What I couldn’t believe was the extraordinary beauty of these lyrics that Taylor had written; and it was as if someone had come into the film I was in the middle of making and you know–read the script, met the actors, seen the world–and reflected back to me a profound understanding of what we were trying to do with the movie.”
If Taylor Swift knows anything: it’s how to get into the mindset of a sad cat. But real question: what are you “trying to do” with this movie? Frighten both children and adults? Confuse Idris Elba? Mission accomplished!
Here’s Taylor and co. talking about the song that’s a play for her to get an OSCUH!
