A Judge Has Ruled That Brad Pitt’s Name Will Remain On His Housing Lawsuit
For over a year, Brad Pitt has been in a messy battle over the quality of the low-income homes built after Hurricane Katrina by his Make It Right foundation. There’s currently an ongoing lawsuit over the homes. Last December, Brad made it known that he would very much like his name taken off that lawsuit, because he feels that he’s not responsible for the crappiness of the houses (it’s the architect’s fault!). As much as Brad has tried to make like the structural integrity of those homes and vanish, a judge has declared that his name isn’t going anywhere from that lawsuit.
In November of last year, Brad asked for the class-action lawsuit against himself and the Make It Right foundation to be thrown out, because he had no personal responsibility to the homeowners, which means he’s breached no alleged deal with them. The lawsuit was not thrown out. Residents of the New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward claimed Brad was only in the home building business for the good PR. And what do you know, that plan backfired hard. The PR only gets worse for Brad. People magazine says that Civil District Court Judge Rachael Johnson recently ruled that Brad will remain as a defendant in that lawsuit. That also means that the lawsuit is still aimed at Brad and his charity pet project, and not at the architect who drew up those homes.
When Brad first asked to be excluded from this lawsuit’s narrative, his lawyer tried to argue that residents had not provided any facts that support a conclusion Brad is person to blame. Brad’s lawyer also argued that there was no “factual allegations” against Brad. I don’t know, “The house Brad built me is growing mold” is a pretty factual allegation.
So whether he likes it or not (oh, he most certainly does not), Brad Pitt can still be sued by the homeowners that inherited his busted houses. And it sounds like they really want justice, so this could get messy in court. Brad is rumored to be currently dating jewelry designer/spiritual healer Sat Hari Khalsa, and maybe he’d be wise to see what she would advise. Although he might not like the answer.
“Brad, the business woman in me says you should settle, and cut them a check to buy a new house. While the spiritual adviser in me asks: Do you want shitty karma for life? Cut those Katrina survivors a check for a new damn house, Brad.“
