Open Post: Hosted By Rihanna Defending That Vogue Writer Who Wasn’t Prepared For Her Interview

Abby Aguirre really played herself when she revealed she was under-prepared to interview Rihanna for the cover of Vogue Magazine. In the interview, she telegraphed that she didn’t have any questions prepared for Rihanna, and the Navy let her know it was very un-Rihanna of her, meaning very uncool. Thankfully, Rihanna herself is very Rihanna, because after learning about the backlash, she came to Abby’s defense, calling her lack of preparedness “gangster.

According to WWD, Rihanna was quite happy with how the interview turned out, and was taken by surprise to learn that Abby nearly got shot out of a cannon by the Navy.

“Wait, wait, what?” Rihanna said, standing on the red carpet in a leopard-print Saint Laurent dress. “No, no, no, no. That’s gangster. For you to get a call the day before being like, ‘Hey, Rihanna’s in L.A., you wanna do this?’ And show up on the dime and write an incredible article that I’m really proud of and enjoyed reading? She’s badass for that.”
Although members of Rih’s team had mentioned that Aguirre received heat for the piece, Rihanna apparently didn’t know the full scope of the situation — that it had been picked up by various publications and acclaimed writers like Roxane Gay weighed in.

Rihanna’s brow furrowed and she got serious when she heard the details. Then she waved it away and laughed.

“If you don’t have to prepare, girl, you’re gangster,” Rihanna said.

Abby can breathe a sigh of relief and reinstall the Twitter app on her phone now that Rihanna has spoken. Here’s Abby’s currently pinned tweet.

I can understand getting hyped at getting called a badass by Rihanna, but let’s not get carried away. Nobody in this scenario is a literal gangster, this wasn’t a Cardi B interview. Rihanna’s the one with BDE here. Rihanna’s got so much swag that in that same WWD interview, she went on to imply her fans can’t read too well, that’s why she gave those simpletons a picture book.

“And my fans are young and they’ve got ADD; they’d rather look at pictures than read, let’s be real.”

Which is probably why Abby got shit in the first place. Most of the people who were mad about her not having questions prepared, probably didn’t bother to read the entire interview. It’s not surprising that Abby’s own admission that she was “winging it“, is what caught people’s attention. And Abby’s residual saltiness about the ordeal isn’t doing her any favors. For context, Maxine Wally, referenced in the tweet below, is the person who conducted the WWD interview that elicited Rihanna’s defense.

Now that’s a very un-Riahnna response. Luckily for Abby, with their ADD and all, Rihanna’s fans have already moved on to the most recent perpetrator of crimes against Rihanana.

If anybody deserves to walk the plank with the Navy’s cutlass to their back, it’s this fool!
