Todd And Julie Chrisley Cleared Of State Tax Evasion Charges, But Still May Face Federal Ones

E! News has some Womp-Womp News for people who enjoy watching The Rich go down for their financial indiscriminations. Don’t worry: Lori Loughlin still in the hot seat. But Todd & Julie Chrisley are out of it–at least on a state-level–as it’s being reported that they have been cleared of those tax evasion charges filed against them back in August in the state of Georgia. So I guess he wasn’t hiding cash in those botox-filled cheeks of his (you decide if I mean his face).

Todd and Julie are free birds. Sort of. The Georgia Department of Revenue says that Chrisley Knows Best should actually be about handling money, because this kid knows what he’s doing.

After investigating an alleged $2 million of evaded taxes between 2008 and 2016, the investigators found that he had overpaid for four years, owed nothing for four others, and there was only one year where he incorrectly filed and owed $77,000 in overdue taxes. This was all settled between the Chrisleys and the state and so their two-year investigation was a dud. I mean, he did say this was a vendetta against him by an ex-employee.

They are still facing federal charges for the same period of unpaid taxes, but chances are if they didn’t do the one, why evade the other? We’ll see. And of course they had to gloat about it giving this statement:

“Since March 2017 we have lived with this storm of lies, fraudulent misrepresentations and betrayal regarding the false claims alleged against us with the Georgia Dept of Revenue, we’ve endured press standing outside our homes, agents confronting our kids in restaurants, and constant leaks to the press to bolster the lies that started this investigation, false claims of millions of dollars owed because the bigger the number the more people want to read about it, only to resolve the matter for pennies on the dollar…we have always relied on the excellent advice of accountants… This settlement and what we’ve been put through by the Ga Dept Of Revenue should be a wake up call to all taxpayers in the state of Georgia, these folks have the authority to raid your homes, businesses, confront you in public and harass your friends and family and do it with Confidence because they have no accountability unless you spend hundreds of thousands of dollars to prove your innocence. I thank God for walking us through this part of the storm with grace, I thank our attorneys, Chris Anulewicz and Mike Bowers for closing the matter out and bringing to light the corruption within the George Dept of Revenue and for everyone that has believed in us from the beginning and also for those who didn’t because your comments have made us stronger…”

Okay wow, listen to that fucking gloating. Acting like the government out here shaking down the rich. Okay tough guy, you didn’t swindle the American government like a bunch of other rich people regularly do: good for you. Question, though did you threaten your daughter with her own sex tape, or…? Was that looked into, or…? Did you call her a cheating skank, or…? Is God leading you through that or…? How about we dial down the smugness until after the feds look into you, okay? This is a tentative time for rich people–never know what will set the peasants off. It’s the French Revolution all over again!
