James Van Der Beek And His Wife Are Expecting Their Sixth Child
Angelina Jolie better watch out, because someone else is building their own child army. And in a very weird, random twist, that someone is Dawson from Dawson’s Creek? Yes, it’s true. James Van Der Beek and his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, announced that she is pregnant with their sixth kid.
People magazine reports that James, currently of Dancing With The Stars (because he’s more than just Dawson), broke the news of his wife’s pregnancy on Instagram yesterday. James and Kimberly’s five children include Olivia (9), Joshua (7), Annabel Leah (5), Emilia (3), Gwendolyn (1). James explained that after several miscarriages, Kimberly is pregnant again. And they chose to make the announcement as a whole family. Here’s something I learned today: all of James Van Der Beek’s kids look like the Muppet Babies version of himself.
James and Kimberly just celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary.
Using Instagram to announce that you will soon have the half-dozen donuts version of children isn’t anything new in celebrity world. But James is currently on Dancing With The Stars, and I’m almost positive A DWTS contract stipulates you must engage in at least one publicity stunt. There are no rumors that James is hooking up with his partner, and Lamar Odom already got caught itching his nuts. So there’s not really much left besides splitting your pants during a cha-cha-cha or flashing the first ultrasound pic. James went with the ultrasound pic. Before James and his partner Emma Slater danced to “Walking On Sunshine,” he and Kimberly invited the DWTS camera crews into their first ultrasound appointment, where they discovered she’s pregnant. James said he chose to do so in an attempt to de-stigmatize miscarriage.

Here’s James’ performance after his future sixth kid made their first official appearance on network TV:
“Walking On Sunshine” is an appropriate song considering the circumstances, I suppose. Although I’ve got a feeling that with soon-to-be six kids at home, “Constantly Stepping On Legos” might be more accurate to James’ experience. It’s just too bad that Dancing With The Stars airs at 8pm on ABC, because it would have been entirely too perfect to announce he made another kid before performing a foxtrot to “The Humpty Dance.”
