Tyler Perry Celebrated The Opening Of His Very Own Movie Studio

The house that Madea built comes complete with an exact replica of Madea’s actual house, which itself is just down the street from Tyler Perry Presents The White House (built to scale for a BET show called The Oval. Hopefully someone will actually watch it because that shit was expensive). That’s how rich Tyler Perry is. Over the weekend, every actor, director, and writer in Hollywood in possession of even an ounce of melanin, plus The Clintons, seemed to be in Atlanta to celebrate the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios. Even Spike Lee, who once famously accused Tyler of “coonery buffoonery, was there!

According to The Hollywood Reporter:

Hollywood stars came out in full force for the grand opening of Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. The red carpet buzz surrounded Perry’s history-making as the first African American actor/director/writer/producer to own a studio outright with no partners or corporate backing.

A-list stars including Viola Davis, Ava DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey, Whoopi Goldberg, Halle Berry, Samuel L. Jackson, Tiffany Haddish and Stacey Abrams walked the carpet lined with walls adorned in roses and shared their admiration and support for Perry.

Here’s the tour guests were treated to. It’s just like the old Universal Studios tour except for instead of cruising by a pond containing a mechanical shark, there’s a tired looking lady sitting on the curb holding a tiny light saber.

Surprise twist: That was Tyler in drag! During the opening ceremonies, Tyler singled out Oprah Winfrey as his inspiration for dreaming bigger after he saw how big her damn house was.

In a room of about 800 guests, Perry highlighted one special person in attendance who influenced him: Winfrey. “In 2005, Oprah invited me to her Legends Ball,” he revealed. “I saw Diana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Tom Cruise and Sidney Poitier, and I said, ‘What am I doing here?’ I didn’t know I said it out loud, but Yolanda Adams was sitting next to me and she said, ‘You belong here.’ By the end of the party I said, ‘I’m going to dream bigger.’ It was something about being in Oprah’s house, being in her presence, seeing what a black person had accomplished — it really, really spoke to me.”

And now he’s rich enough to have Oprah kissing HIS ass.

Tyler also named one of the the studio’s many soundstages after her.

All guests were then given a tour of the 330-acre studio and each of the 12 soundstages, all named after iconic African American legends in the industry: Cicely Tyson, Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, Oprah Winfrey, Whoopi Goldberg, Will Smith, Halle Berry, Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, Ruby Dee, Ossie Davis and Diahann Carroll.

I wonder if she loves it because he included a replica of her beloved bathtub. And here’s Halle Berry opening her soundstage while her iconic performances as “woman lifting a baby”, “sexy wet lady in a bikini“, “woman dancing in a cage”, and “woman slapping Eddie Murphy” play behind her.

Here are some more shots Tyler shared from the grand opening of Medea Makes a Mogul.

Now that looks like an actual Sunday Service. I think somebody might need to go check on Kanye.
