Kevin Hart’s Friend Is No Longer Facing Extortion Charges Related To His Sex Tape

Homophobia denialist Kevin Hart has reason to go off on another of his shrieky, ear-piercing rants this weekend. TMZ reports that Kevin’s ex-friend J.T. Jackson, who was facing a felony extortion charge for trying to get money from Kevin over his sex tape, has beat the rap.

TMZ says that prosecutors dropped the felony extortion charge against J.T. because he never made a specific demand for money to Kevin or his team of short-guy enablers.

Jackson made some demands on various websites and blogs, but never directly to Kevin or his team, and prosecutors felt that was necessary to win an extortion conviction.

This is sort of confusing because J.T. DID make a demand for money in a comment on Kevin’s Instagram page. Maybe as long as the extortion attempt is not made with a phone call or in a handwritten note that starts with “Dearest Kevin,” it’s not considered an extortion attempt? Er, ok.

The DA says the threat read, “Give me $5 million or I’m releasing the video.”

But J.T.’s threat came after Kevin already publicly apologized and admitted that he boned a lady who wasn’t his wife on a sex tape. So how J.T. had time to issue extortion demands on social media in between all of the Mensa meetings that he must attend is a mystery.

Kevin is currently being sued by the woman in the tape, one Montia Sabbag, who is claiming Kevin himself set the whole thing up for extra publicity for a comedy tour. I guess that’s funny? *confused*

Montia says that Kevin and T.J. set up the cameras and Jackson had access to them. She’s looking for $60 million from Kev.

Kevin must be sore with J.T. for fucking him over because he’s reportedly working with the prosecutors. J.T.’s fish is not completely off the hook.

That said, prosecutors are still going after Jackson for other crimes, including 2 counts of unauthorized use of personal identifying information, as well as attempted concealing and selling stolen property … all 3 felonies.

Kevin Hart is currently recovering from back surgery that he had to get after he was in a serious car crash. It’s bad enough being laid up after that, but now the cops aren’t pursuing an extortion charge against a man who tried to extort money from Kevin literally in front of Hart’s 79.9 Instagram followers. He’s had a tough year but maybe he can use this time to better himself as a person. Maybe his bestie Ellen Degeneres can visit and explain homophobia to him.
