Shawn Mendes Swears He And Camila Cabello Aren’t Dating For Publicity
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello are currently a couple, who also just so happen to have the number 2 song this week on the billboard Hot 100 chart (“Señorita,” which was number 1 at one point in time). They also have a whole lot of people wondering if they’re just a summer project cooked up by their publicists. It doesn’t matter how many times they publicly press their mouths together, some people still think they’re fake-dating. Well, Shawn Mendes claims that ain’t so.
TMZ says that Shawn was asked about his relationship with Camila by a photographer as he exited a flight at LAX yesterday. First he was asked about all the PDA, to which Shawn replied that it’s “a little bit of a joke.” He was then asked if he’s met Camila’s parents, and Shawn said that he’s known them for a long time, and that they all get along. Then the photographer asked to address the rumors that it’s all a “publicity stunt.” Sean was wearing sunglasses indoors at the time, which was probably a good call on his part, since even the strongest eye muscles can have trouble holding back a frantic “Oh fuck…” look. Instead he replied:
“Definitely not a publicity stunt.”
However, Shawn didn’t feel like talking when the photographer asked if he’s said “I love you” to Camila. No response! Maybe he’s waiting to get the go-ahead from his publicist that they’ve entered Stage 2: We’re Saying “I Love You” Now.
Not long after Shawn landed, he got together with Camila, and what luck? There was a photographer who just so happened to be in the area.

Okay, there’s your proof that this relationship isn’t a publicity stunt. Because if it was, surely they would have noticed the photographer standing literally ten feet in front of them, and they would have used the moment to shamelessly plug their song. Shawn would be standing on one side of the street calling, “Señorita! Señorita!” while Camila shrugs and tells the photographer, “I love it when he calls me that! I wish I could pretend I didn’t need him, but you know how it is, la la la.”
