Drew and Jonathan Scott, better known as The Property Brothers, are two brunette twins that fix up houses on HGTV. But did you also know they’re aspiring musicians? Drew and Jonathan also perform as The Scott Brothers, because I guess Nailing the Right Notes was just too cheesy. Some people might cringe at the thought of watching one of the Property Brothers work the mic, but not Zooey Deschanel. In fact, you could say that music was the matchmaker responsible for hooking those two random people up.
Zooey Deschanel rebounded from Jacob Pechenik, her husband of four years, with Jonathan. They met during a siblings episode of Carpool Karaoke that was shot in August.
A source tells People magazine that Zooey and Jonathan bonded easily because he makes her laugh and they both love music.
“He makes her laugh and he’s so sweet to her. They bonded over shared love of music.”
That sounds like the description of two robots on a date after receiving upgraded compatibility programming. I like music. Pizza is delicious. Ha ha ha, you make me laugh. DATE RATING: 89% POSITIVE.
The source adds that Zooey and her sister Emily Deschanel also went out and did karaoke in Los Angeles with Jonathan and Drew. Aside from music, Zooey apparently likes him because he’s a family person and likes kids.
“He’s very close to his family and loves children.”
The source adds that Jonathan lives in Las Vegas and Zooey lives in Los Angeles, so they see each other quite a bit. Although Jonathan has yet to meet Zooey’s two kids, 4-year-old Elise Otter and 2-year-old Charlie Wolf. But when he does, he can easily bond with them over cool middle names, as Jonathan changed his own middle name from Ian to – I wish I was kidding about this – Silver.
Even though it sounds rom-com corny to bond over something as superficial as music, in this case it makes sense. Zooey has a successful music side-project called She & Him, so she knows a thing or two about legitimate music. She’s got a serious musician’s ear, which means her tastes are sophisticated enough to appreciate this Scott Brothers’ classic, “Let the Night Shine In.”
Zooey and Jonathan might actually be the perfect couple for each other. If she’s heard his music, and she’s still on board, then they might as well start picking out rings. Most women probably don’t even get as far as his YouTube channel. I bet most bail after he asks, “Hey, do you like magic?”
