Felicity Huffman Has A Friend In John Legend Who Thinks You Should Lay Off

Felicity Huffman has found herself an interesting friend in R&B Crooner/Chrissy Teigen‘s husbandJohn Legend. After Felicity Huffman was treated to the rich-white-woman-justice special: AKA a slap on the wrist for financial crimes–she’d been targeted by the internet for not getting punished enough. Well, John Legend is telling us to lay off, and he has his reasons. John doesn’t only think Felicity should’ve gotten less time, he thinks everyone should get less time.

Felicity got hit with 14 days in prison for her involvement in Operation Varsity Blues. Of course she also has to pay a fine and I think do community service so that beefs up the sentence a lil bit. But people are not impressed considering that other people get sentenced much harsher for much less blatant crimes. People think that Felicity deserved more for her criminal acts and should be rotting in prison for LIFE!!!! Or something. But John thinks it’s too much and we should be looking at this from another angle.

John thinks that we need to take things down a notch for everybody and that we all need to be getting that Felicity Huffman-tickle on the wrist when some crimes are committed. He went into a long Twitter education on what prison sentencing looks like and how as a society we really love sending people to prison–Gee, I wonder why?

And he also retweeted others calling for us to stop over-punishing humanity:

“HERE! HERE!” shouted Lori Loughlin from her Southern California mansion. You know this Twitter thread got Lori all kinds of excited, hoping that she too will benefit from a 14 day sentence and support from John Legend.

I actually fully agree with what John is saying, and maybe it’s because I’m a Desperate Housewives-fan but I don’t think Felicity should be in prison for this. I think she should be punished by having to use her millions to pay the university tuitions of students who can’t afford it. Books too! Not just classes. She’s got to cover the whole thing. What’s she going to do in prison to benefit society? Learn the value of Honey Buns as a trading currency in between writing the memoir she’ll sell to make even more money? How does that help us? Paying my tuition? That helps us.
