Constance Wu drummed up a lil bit of controversy when there were rumors of her being a mega-bitch after she threw a tantrum on Twitter over Fresh Off The Boat’s renewal. Sources then said that Constance was an uber-diva on the set of Hustlers and was making enemies left, right and center. Well, listen up because Jennifer Lopez was there and she does not recall Constance being a demanding bitch once ever! This is coming from a woman who demands her rooms be fully white in her rider, but hey, let’s believe her!
Jennifer Lopez is gearing up for Oscar season because apparently this Hustlers movie–about a group of strippers scammed the rich men of NYC–is what is finally going to get her nominated for an Oscar. Constance must be one of the voters, and JLo is ready to start campaigning early, because she is sticking by Constance 100% .
She told USA Today that she had a great time with Constance, and in fact now they’re friends:
“I have the most amazing relationship with Constance. She was a doll baby to me on the set and to everybody every time I was on the set… It was 29 days and I was there most days. I don’t know if there was somebody (talking to the media) who had a gripe or she had a bad day one day. Who knows? I know how this can go sometimes, and how really nice, good people can be portrayed as something other than what they are. That’s a fun headline for people but doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true. My experience with her was lovely. We became really great friends.”
And she says, yeah, maybe Constance was bitchy one or two days, but you would be too doing what they do! Being a fabulous movie star has its downside:
“People are allowed to get cranky sometimes. I’m not saying that was her. But everybody’s human. So I don’t know where that came from but it wasn’t my experience at all. I love her. And she’s great in the this movie, too.”
The director of Hustlers, Lorene Scafaria, also told USA Today that the rumors about Constance were bullshit saying “there’s a dash of racism and a dash of sexism” to the critiques and coverage. She said:
“I found it to be just a real insult to my set, to be honest. We had such an incredible time together. Everyone got along so well. Jennifer and Constance had this instant chemistry with each other and really did have this big sister/little sister relationship.”
I’m sure there was no real cat-fighting on the set of this movie and it was all just for some early publicity to get us excited about this stripper-heist movie. I mean, I don’t know how anyone could need more of a reason to watch this movie. Strippers and stealing from rich men? Sign me all the way up. Meanwhile, JLo will take Constance under her wing and teach her how to be a true diva. Step one: do nothing for yourself ever.
