John Travolta Wishes He Would’ve Fully Given A Moonman To Jade Jolie At The MTV VMAs

I was going to say that maybe John Travolta’s wig holds the power to him not fucking up an awards show, but he had that polyester critter lace front on his head during his Adele Dazeem moment, so my theory doesn’t work. But I get that Taylor Swift is no Fred Durst, yet she was all over the MTV VMAs on Monday night, and yet, John Travolta still mistook her for drag queen Jade Jolie.

John was on Dallas-Fort Worth’s Hot 93.3, and when asked about the mess-up, he shrugged and made it sound like he didn’t mistake Jade for Taylor (uh huh) and also said that no matter what he does, it makes headlines. He mispronounces a name or shaves his head, and it makes headlines. I see that “shaves head” is still Scientologist for “took off my wig.”

According to Entertainment Weekly:

“There’s so many people that bombarded the stage, that I was looking for [Swift]. So the video has me trying to find her, and you know, I thought it was so funny the way it was interpreted. And it’s cool, I didn’t care,” he said. “If I shave my head, it’s headlines. If I mispronounce something, that’s headlines, and I know that about me.”

“Sometimes I fantasize, what if I had given it to [Jolie]? That would have been awesome. I should have just gone all the way with it,” he said of the VMAs flub. He added, “I have a sense of humor about all of that — I always have — because, look, we’re in pretty good shape on any given day that that kind of thing could make headlines.”

The craziest thing about John’s response isn’t that he thinks he should’ve went all the way with it, it’s that he thinks “we’re in pretty good shape” because it makes news. Excuse me, Travolta! I don’t know what the hell is happening on Planet Scientology (actually, I do), but the earth is literally on on fire right now.

And according to Taylor’s friend Todrick Hall, she wasn’t mad about it:

For her part, Swift apparently also found the mix-up funny. Todrick Hall, a Swift pal and co-executive producer of her Video of the Year-winning “You Need to Calm Down” music video, opened up about the incident on Jerry O’Connell’s talk show, Jerry O. “I loved it. Yeah, I saw it and we talked about it backstage, and Taylor thought it was hilarious,” Hall said.

Maybe Taylor isn’t mad, because she knows the truth and maybe the truth is that John Travolta didn’t think she was Jade Jolie. Maybe John is just missing a warm wig on his head and was trying to trade a Moonman for Jade’s wig. Understandable!
