A Man Is Suing Popeyes For Running Out Of Chicken Sandwiches
When confronted with the national crisis that is Popeyes running out of their fried chicken sandwiches, people are understandably upset. And look, times of crisis bring out the best and the worst of people. Some heroes banded together (via the internet) to let others know which Popeyes have the sandwiches in stock. But that was short-lived, because Popeyes announced on Twitter a few days ago that they are officially sold out of their chicken sandwiches and it’ll be available again “soon.” So as some are begging for Bethenny Frankel to please do something about this national tragedy and Chick-Fil-A executives maniacally laugh over buying up the country’s supply of frozen fried chicken patties, one Tennessee man has handled this catastrophe by doing what Americans do best: SUE!
According to News Channel 9:
EAST RIDGE, Tenn. (WTVC) — An East Ridge man has filed a civil summons in Hamilton County General Sessions court against Popeyes Chicken because he was not happy about his repeated trips to the fast food restaurant, only to find they were out of their new crispy chicken sandwich.
The man filing the summons, Craig Barr, says he is suing for “false advertising, deceptive business practices by entity to public. Countless time wasted driving to and from Popeyes. No chicken sandwich. Was told to come back this day- still no sandwich.”
Filing a lawsuit against a fast food place for being out of something you don’t really need (I know, how DARE I) seems reasonable, and I would expect nothing less from a man who also made the reasonable and smart decision of answering a Craigslist ad for a black market Popeyes chicken sandwich.
Barr says he answered a “black list” Craigslist ad, promising a Popeyes worker who worked the fryer would “stash” the sandwiches in the back, and sell them to customers who paid $24.
Barr says the alleged employee took his money, but never delivered the fried goods.
Chattanooga Police say they don’t know of any reports of problems at local Popeyes restaurants. The ad now appears to be taken down.
So it seems like Craig Barr has never eaten Popeyes chicken sandwich, and yet he’s jonesing for it so hard that he was willing to buy one in a back alley. The DEA should just get it out of the way and make the Popeyes chicken sandwich a Class A drug already.
