Miley Cyrus Debuted A New Post-Breakup Tattoo At The VMAs

Even though Miley Cyrus has technically moved on from her extremely short marriage to Liam Hemsworth (with Brody Jenner’s former girlfriend Kaitlynn Carter), that doesn’t mean she can’t milk the hell out of it on television. You’ve got to strike while the iron is hot when it comes to sympathy-based breakup attention, and Miley got plenty of it last night while performing her new this-is-definitely-about-Liam song. And even when her mouth wasn’t singing her feelings about Liam, her body was kind of doing the talking for her.

People points out that Miley arrived at the MTV VMAs last night with something for people to read. My instinct was to read Miley for that greasy wet-look hair, but People is talking about a new tattoo on her left bicep. Here’s Miley giving everyone a little sneak peek at her new tattoo while performing Slide Away at the VMAs last night. Miley also changed up one lyric from “We’re grown now” to “I’m grown now.” Well that explains the lack of twerking.

The tattoo features the lyrics “My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free” from The Thing by The Pixies. You can see it closer here:

It’s a good thing Miley’s tattoo artist left a little space under “but my heart was feeling free,” because she can always grab a Sharpie and add: “and my crotch was glad for the quick turnaround time.” Because of course Miley is still with Kaitlynn Carter, who was her date to the VMAs. Miley and Kaitlynn were seen backstage together, as well as seen holding hands after the show.

Page Six heard from a source who claims Miley was seen giving Kaitlynn a kiss before her performance of Slide Away. I guess Miley’s Hot Girl Summer is over, and she’s making way for Cozy PG-Rated Couple Fall. Because otherwise, Page Six’s source might be talking about how Miley grabbed Kaitlynn and winked while asking if Kaitlynn if she wants to have a threesome with a moonman statue.
