Angelina Jolie Ugly Cried When She Dropped Maddox Off At College
According to Angelina Jolie, Angelina Jolie ugly cried when dropping tribal elder Maddox Jolie-Pitt off at college. Angie was at the big Disney D23 Expo doing promotion for The Eternals, but apparently what everybody actually wanted to talk about was her other ongoing and most important project to date, One Mother’s Sacrifice: The Angelina Jolie Story instead. According to Entertainment Tonight, Angie “got a little teary-eyed” when they asked about her, and the rest of her brood’s reaction to 18-year-old Maddox leaving for college at Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea. While the little ones said their goodbyes in the driveway, Angie escorted Maddox all the way to Seoul, presumably leaving a massive chemtrail of used tissues in her wake.
ET Reports:
“What was very beautiful is the way everybody said goodbye. When it was time to take him to the airport — some jumped into the car to take him — and everybody was, it was very…,” Jolie told ET’s Nischelle Turner on the red carpet, her voice trailing off. “When you know that your kids love each other and you see the way they all — without any kind of prompting or pushing — give each other notes, hug each other, take each other, support each other, then you feel like they’re going to be okay and they’re always going to have each other.”
You know you got too many damn kids when you have to use “some” as a descriptor. But let me not distract from this woman’s pain.
When asked if she had stopped crying yet, Jolie adorably admitted with a laugh, “No.”
Guys, Angie has been crying for so long that Brad Pitt finally had to swoop in and build the kids a new house because of the flooding! When asked if she’d had an “ugly cry moment”, Angie replied:
“Oh my god, and embarrass your children ugly cry!” she added, revealing that she had a difficult time walking away from Maddox. “I also, just at some point, had the big [sun]glasses and the amount of times I turned and waved. I do know it was the one moment in my life I think I turned around six times before the airport just… and he sweetly stayed and kept waving, knowing that I was going to keep turning around. You could feel he knew he couldn’t leave.”
This is some Casablanca level airport emotional turmoil! Sadly though, it sounds like the Rick to Angie’s Ilsa wasn’t quite as torn up about the separation. Here’s Angie talking to E! News about how Maddox was ready to leave the nest.

Oh Angie, you can say it. You’re going to stalk him! That’s fine. It’s what we expect! I just hope she leaves a bowl of food out for the other kids while she’s sneaking around campus, hiding in bushes and wearing gigantic ugly cry sunglasses. And that she doesn’t get mistaken for a North Korean spy and get herself thrown into prison!
