Susan Sarandon Says Her Dog Understands Racism

You think Lassie is talented? Pft. Lassie is cancelled! Because Susan Sarandon‘s dog is the new dog to hit the stroll with a cultural bang! Oh you can save puppies from fires? Susan’s dog smells racism. Top. That. Bitch.

Many Democrats are mad at Susan Sarandon ever since the 2016 election when she decided to vote for Jill Stein over Hillary Clinton because Bernie Sanders didn’t get the nomination. People have criticized her ever since, and it’s definitely created her ongoing Red Headed Feud with Debra Messing. They hate each other. And Debra isn’t alone in calling out Susan.

Enter Zerlina Maxwell, a political commentator for MSNBC. She has not let Susan off the hook for what she sees as the move of a privileged person who wouldn’t really feel the negative effects of a Donald Trump Presidency. And when Susan was out campaigning for Bernie recently, Zerlina decided to use Susan’s choice of dog–a Pomeranian-Maltese named Penny–to further her critiques Susan:

Susan’s record scratched and she was like: “Did this girl just bring up my dog?” Well Susan will not stand by and allow Penny to be slandered. Not only is she not a clueless privileged dog, Penny also understands fully the intricate issues of racism in the world. Just so you know!

You think that’s it? No. Penny also knows about LGBTQ people, poor woking-class people, the disabled, veterans–Penny knows everything about everyone because Penny is worldly:

I don’t know how Penny communicates all these deep knowledges to Susan (SPOILER ALERT: it’s the weed), but I believe her. Sorry Lassie, time to pack it up: you are no longer the most talented dog in the world. If you’re looking to get into a different gig you could become a dog vigilante who saves other dogs from evil people. Which is actually something we sort of need right now. Well, actually I guess this is somewhere Penny falls short. She knows all about human issues, but not the plights of her own people! For shame, Penny. Read a book.
