Kate Upton Thinks The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show Was “A Snoozefest”

The hearts and boners of horny middle-aged dads and preteen boys broke last month when it was reported that the annual Victoria’s Secret fashion show might not happen this year. Some models were disappointed. Other models, like Karlie Kloss, were perhaps applauding the rumored decision. And then there’s model Kate Upton, who isn’t really that bothered, because the whole spectacle was starting to get pretty boring to her.

Last November, Ed Razek, the creator of the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, admitted in an interview with Vogue that there would be no trans models or plus-size models in a Victoria’s Secret fashion show, because they were selling an extremely narrow idea of a fantasy. Ed later apologized for his comments, then quit earlier this month.

E! News says that Kate addressed the situation last night on Watch What Happens Live. A caller asked Kate what her reaction was to the rumor that Victoria’s Secret is scrapping the fashion show like it was the damaged underwire from a busted push-up bra. Kate responded by subtly dragging Ed Razek.

“You know what? We’re sick of seeing the same body type. You have to be body-inclusive now. Every woman needs to be represented, otherwise it’s a snoozefest.”

Kate has shot for the Victoria’s Secret catalog in the past (although she wasn’t too thrilled about that). But she’s never walked the runway for the VS fashion show. That could be because back in 2012, VS fashion show casting director Sophia Neophitou claimed they’d never cast Kate in the show since she was too tacky for them.

“We would never use [Kate Upton for a Victoria’s Secret show]. She is too obvious. She’s like a Page 3 girl. She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and that kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy.”

Some people might call Kate a hypocrite, considering her breasts have made plenty of appearances on the cover of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. But then again, even SI has multiple examples of diverse models (although they have yet to feature a trans model).

Kate isn’t wrong. I’ve watched tons of Victoria’s Secret fashion shows, and they are boring! It’s the same thing every time. A skinny model with beach waves and pink lip gloss walks out in a bra and panties. The only excitement comes when I correctly guess which model is doing the walking. “Is that Alessandra Ambrosio? Wait, no…that’s the one Bradley Cooper made a baby with? It’s not a Jenner or a Hadid. Or is it? Damn this low-res live stream.
