Mia Khalifa Says She Only Made $12,000 From Porn Despite Still Being Globally Ranked

Mia Khalifa was apparently the second most searched porn star on Pornhub last year even though she hasn’t done porn since 2014. Why has she not done porn, you ask? Did she get tired of it, move on, find other work? Well no, not really. She left after making only $12,000 from her short career, because she was getting death threats from ISIS. Yes thee ISIS was threatening to kill Mia Khalifa because of a porn she did in a hijab.

During an interview with YouTuber Megan Abbott, Mia talked about her experience with porn and let it be known that despite her continued popularity, she actually only made $12,000 from her short-lived porn career. Mia tweeted about the interview:

Once that shit blew up on Twitter, Mia added some addendums to her tweets:

So here’s Mia’s story, the Lebanese native only actually worked in porn for three months in 2014. $12,000 for three months isn’t bad, so she was making money from porn. However, things went south after she filmed that fateful scene wearing a hijab. She may have gained a fan out of Drake, but others weren’t amused. She still gets threats to this day from ISIS about that scene:

“The turning point, of course, was when I did the hijab scene. That is when the ISIS death threats came in, all of the news broke out–globally. Not just in America. It was trending on Twitter, it was all over the news. I was banned from a handful of countries…Egypt…Afghanistan…Very Muslim countries were deeply offended by it–and I’m Catholic. So to me it wasn’t, ‘Oh yea, this is bad.’ What I actually said when they proposed the scene to me, and this is verbatim, was: ‘You motherfuckers are going to get me killed.’ …The day after the scene dropped is when everything blew up. I went from 400 followers on Instagram to like 200,000 in the span of three days and then it just kept snowballing until I was at 2 million like 6 months later. This was after I had quit porn. It just kept growing, and growing, and growing–and then my Instagram account was hacked by ISIS.”

So I guess there is a lesson to be learned from Mia Khalifa: If you do porn, save your money. And also, if you’re going to do some heavily religious-themed porn, prepare for the terrorist organizations to come at you. This is why it’s best to only do porn parodies. The fan boys may get mad, but their online death threats are much less plausible than, you know, ISIS.
