Princess Märtha Louise Is Dropping Her Title When Doing Influencer Business

August 9, 2019 / Posted by:

Back in May, we learned that Princess Märtha Louise of Norway was living a Goop-inspired Hallmark Channel holiday movie when it was revealed she was dating an L.A.-based spiritual guide named Durek Verrett (aka Shaman Durek). Princess Märtha decided to use her title to sell tickets to a speaking tour with Shaman Durek, called The Princess and The Shaman. And now Princess Märtha isn’t using her princess title anymore, unless she’s doing official princess business.

Princess Märtha said on Instagram that you can just call her Märtha Louise from here on out. Well, Märtha Louise if she’s trying to get you to harness the power of your past lives and channel them into spiritual energy. If you come across her in a palace, wearing a tiara and sash, and telling an ambassador of a foreign country to try the pickled whitefish, then you should probably call her Princess.

#livsendringer #livet @martha.louise.intuitive

Unless you’re fluent in Norwegian, then you’re going to need this translation. Märtha Louise is sorry for blatantly trying to cash in on her royal status and lure in potential customers. But apparently not sorry enough not to plug her new Instagram account, Märtha Louise Intuitive:

“There have been many discussions about my use of title in a commercial context lately. The fact that I used Princess in the title of my tour, I have said before that I am very sorry, and I still stand by that. It was a mistake and I understand that it provokes when the princess title is used this way.

The discussions are something I have taken seriously, and in collaboration with my family we have found that it is best that we make some changes.
We have therefore jointly come to the conclusion that I use the title princess when I represent the Royal House, do my official assignments at home and abroad and in private contexts. From now on I will not use my princess title in a commercial context. That is, in all commercial contexts, I only use Märtha Louise.
I find this to be a good solution where there is a clear distinction between my business activities and my role as representative of the Royal House, and that I have thus created room for greater freedom in my business activities.

In collaboration with my family” – so basically, King Harald V and Queen Sonja summoned her into the throne room and told her to knock it off.

As you can see by her most recent Instagram post, she’s officially switched out her title.

I understand why Märtha Louise is going by Märtha Louise now – because it’s her name. But did she really have to give up her connection to the royal family? She could have embraced her past as a Princess and her current reality as a new age influencer. Like, Her Royal Highness of Scamdanavia, maybe.
