Prince Charles Might Appear In The Next Bond Film

Things are a huge mess on the set of Bond 25, what with the explosions, toilet cams, and multiple walk outs. The Sun says that Prince Charles was recently offered a cameo role in the latest Bond film. And you might think that Prince Charles would decline their generous offer, explaining thanks but no thanks – he’s got enough public relations messes to deal with at his job already. But The Sun says Prince Charles is considering it.

Back in June, Charles swung by Pinewood Studios to check in on filming of Bond 25 and visit with Daniel Craig and Ralph Fiennes.

Apparently they didn’t just discuss suits, cars, and which furniture polish works best on fancy expensive antique wood desks. A source says that a cameo appearance was discussed during their visit, and that Charles is thinking about it. The idea came from producers, who were inspired by all the press Queen Elizabeth got the franchise when she appeared with Daniel Craig (playing James Bond) in the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony film. In it, Bond picks up The Queen and brings her to the opening ceremony in a helicopter, which she parachutes out of (of course, in the film, a stunt double was used). The source says that Bond 25 could use some good press, considering all the setbacks. And apparently Charles is their #1 royal choice. The source says:

“They loved the buzz around the Queen’s appearance alongside Daniel Craig and think Charles could top even that. He is the epitome of everything British, perfect for a cameo role and Bond fans worldwide would absolutely love it.”

I don’t know, when I think of the epitome of everything British, I picture the Spice Girls sharing a Curly Wurly with Paddington Bear, but that’s just me.

This would be Prince Charles’ big screen debut (he appeared on Coronation Street back in 2000). It’s not known what kind of role he’d play. Maybe he’d introduce Bond to some gadgets (“I call this one…His Majesty’s Secret Tampon“). But I hope Prince Charles does more than just show up on set and hit his one or two lines. Prince Charles is very powerful and he loves his activism work. It would be a shame if he didn’t use his power for the most campaign of all, which would be to free Daniel Craig from his 007 prison and command Idris Elba take over the role.
