A$AP Rocky’s Swedish Assault Trial Has Begun

Say what you will about the allegedly abhorrent conditions of the Swedish prison system, but you’ve got to hand it to their judicial process because less than a month after his arrest for assault,  A$AP Rocky is already having his day in court. I feel like in America, the accused have to wait longer for a trail after they’re arrested than we have to wait between seasons of an HBO Signature series. They turned that shit over faster than Bravo pumps out new episodes of Real Housewives. TMZ reports that Rocky’s trial began on Tuesday with Rocky pleading not guilty of assault; claiming self defense. He could face a maximum of 2-years in jail, however prosecutors say they wouldn’t go that far if he’s found guilty.

TMZ reports:

The prosecutor told TMZ he will NOT recommend the full 2 year sentence if A$AP is convicted. A panel of 4 judges will hear the case, and at least 3 of them must rule an assault was committed for a conviction. In the event of a tie, the prosecutor can ask for a new trial. If A$AP is convicted, a judge will decide his sentence a week later.

The alleged victim of the assault, Mustafa Jafari (the one with the broken headphones), has not been charged with any crime, and the prosecutor isn’t convinced by the video evidence Rocky supplied as an argument for self defense.

The prosecutor said he had access to more information than people on the Internet … saying he’s talked to witnesses and reviewed video, and determined the claims by A$AP and his 2 crew members of provocation and self defense didn’t hold water.

The prosecutor also says he considered Jafari’s statement, which he claims is supported by witness statements. We’re told Jafari admits striking the bodyguard, but only after A$AP’s hired muscle lifted him off the ground by his neck. The prosecutor viewed the headphones attack as self defense.

Mustafa took the stand during the trial and claims he feared for his life during the attack. He also claims that the video Rocky circulated of the events allegedly leading up to the assault, has hurt his reputation.

The alleged victim told the court that during the attack, he thought Rocky and his accomplices were going to kill him. He says he’s had nightmares since the incident and the injuries to his hands left him unable to work.

The alleged victim also stated the video of the attack that circulated has damaged his reputation … and reports he was high on drugs during the incident simply weren’t true.

TMZ says photos showed that Mustafa “suffered a bloody finger, a bloody arm, a streak of blood on a bicep and blood on the back of an arm. The images also show various cuts and a gash on another body part”. Prosecutors claim that Rocky had broken glass on the bottom of his shoe when he was allegedly kicking Mustafa after he was thrown to the ground. Rocky claims the glass was unintentional.

As for the claim of prosecutors Rocky stomped on the guy with broken glass on his shoe, Rocky’s lawyer said the bottle was crushed behind Rocky, he didn’t know it was there and it ended up on his shoe.

The trial will continue on Thursday where Rocky’s attorney will have a chance to cross-examine Mustafa. The entire trial is only expected to last 2-days. Meanwhile, Rocky’s mom is there to support her son who is said to be living “under a dark cloud” since his arrest. And after getting a good old fashioned “I don’t know her” from the Swedish Government, Donald Trump is probably praying to whichever satanic overlord owns his soul that Rocky is found innocent. Because after sticking his neck out for him like he did, I don’t think Donny’s ego could take any ruling other than innocent by reason of AMERICA.
