Jennifer Lopez turned 50 on Wednesday night, and she celebrated in a totally low-key way by having a little dinner at Denny’s with A-Rod and her kids where she got a free meal because it was her birthday. No, this is JLo, we’re talking about, so of course she threw herself a party that cost ten times more than what all our internal organs combined would make on the black market (although, maybe that’s not saying much).
JLo’s totally subtle party starred a 10-tiered 24-karat gold birthday cake decorated with Swarovski crystals. If I was there, I would be eyeing everyone’s left over cake plate trying to pocket the half eaten gold and crystals.

Jennifer Lopez, a person that legit defies the aging process, is somehow 50 years old. And so, to celebrate this major milestone (and that everlasting youth of hers), she went all out with a 10-tiered 24-karat gold birthday cake bedazzled with Swarovski crystals.
JLo’s birthday bash also had 250 guests (including Ryan Seacrest who couldn’t get into her party at first. HA!), tons of famous people and was gold-inspired. That’s nice. My birthday was diarrhea inspired because everyone got a stomach bug while camping in New Hampshire. Always good to have a theme!
The extravagant bash was held at Gloria Estefan’s waterfront Miami mansion, which fyi is on a private island, and included a star-studded guest list. Among the reported 250 ~chosen ones~ welcomed for the gold-inspired affair were famous friends DJ Kahled, Ryan Seacrest, Ashanti, and more.
There were fireworks, performances, and a six-figure birthday gift from A-Rod—aka a red Porsche 911 GTS convertible that’s worth an estimated $140,00. CHILL.
Right before the party, A-Rod left a sweet birthday wish on his IGTV.
Prior to the blowout, Lopez’s soon-to-be husband Alex Rodriguez shared the sweetest IGTV video honoring his lady. “Hi baby girl. Just wanna wish you a happy birthday,” he says. “I cannot believe this baby girl. Since we’ve been together, you have made me feel like everyday is my birthday. Thank you for your passion and your energy and your inspiration, and your endless pursuit to be the best at everything that you do.”
Alright A-Rod we get it, you’re totally into JLo and would never, ever cheat on her with a a former playboy model.
Let’s get back to what’s really important though, k? That decadent cake. According to TMZ, the bakery Divine Delicacies whipped up a vanilla rum cake with a dulce de leche filling, covered it in 24-karat edible gold, and slapped on a Swarovski crystal “50” sign. The 10-tiered mammoth, which cost a cool 10 grand, took 5 men to carry it in, too.
A $10,000 cake?! WHY?! Jennifer Lopez has obviously been influenced from her former lover Drake on how to make sound and wise financial decisions. But really, like she paid for that. And what does gold even taste like? It can’t taste better than cream cheese frosting? Probably just: dirty money, metal and a part of Jennifer Lopez’s soul.
