Cole Sprouse And Lili Reinhart Spoke Out After The Breakup Rumors

July 25, 2019 / Posted by:

Millions of Gen Z hearts shattered when it came out that Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart (who play couple Jughead Jones and Betty Cooper on Riverdale) split up as a real-life couple. Neither of them said anything, but I guess they figured it was time to join forces in a series of weird messages to address the breakup, and the way they did it sounds like lines from their characters on the show.

The rumor was that Cole told someone at a Comic Con party in San Diego over the weekend that he and Lili were broken up. Immediately the sound of ripping pages could be heard around the world from people tearing their Archie comic books to shreds because love isn’t real anymore. However, there may have already been an inkling that the two had moved on from one another in the real word. During an interview with W Magazine, both of them were interviewed for a cover story which styled them like the new Sookie Stackhouse and Bill Compton if they were millennials living in Gotham City. During the interview they both discussed their relationship at length, with Lili first addressing the question of why the two of them weren’t being interviewed together.

“We’re not fighting with the idea that people group us together, but we are paired up a lot. We’re acknowledging that we’re in a relationship, but it’s a small part of who we are as people. We want our own separate identities.”

Cole echoed Lil’s sentiments, saying in part “Lili is an incredibly talented individual who speaks for herself and deserves her own voice box in every single way.” Since the interview took place in May, they may have already been on the decline which is why they gave such weird ass answers. But now, call it spin control or crisis management, both Cole and Lili are addressing the split rumors in two very different ways. Using their cover photo as a sounding board both stars took to Instagram to share messages for people using their relationship to spread lies.

Cole took a more tongue-in-cheek approach.

Ok, that was random as hell, but it worked..I guess? I don’t know. After these posts I’m not sure if they’re really good actors trying to convince us they’re still together or two crazy people lying by cursing us out and letting us know they like orgies. Hell, maybe it’s both.
