Billy Eichner Talked About How Beyoncé Was “Nervous” To Meet The Royals

Billy Eichner voices Timon in the all-CGI The Lion King movie which my friend is seeing three times this weekend, so that should tell you everything you need to know about her sex life. During the London premiere of the movie, the stars got the chance to meet Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan. Well guess what, Billy claims Beyoncé got nervous meeting them! Have fun hearing from The Beygency, Billy, because they’re definitely going to wake you up in the middle of the night and drag you down to their headquarters to ask you how you’d like to be punished for breaking your NDA! Ask, Tiffany Haddish!

Billy was on Jimmy Kimmel Live!  and talked about all things The Lion King. He talked about getting back recently from the London premiere where he met the Royals, and they talked about how the stars got nervous about it, even Queen Bey!

“We were all kind of nervous, even Beyoncé! Yeah, because they’re Royals!”

Here’s Billy and co-star Seth Rogen meeting them:

This is when local Beyhive message board-administrator, Jimmy Kimmel, said, “They should be bowing to her!” Those are big words, but also I don’t totally disagree. Because if the Royals don’t show Beyoncé the proper level of respect you never know what The Hive will do in retaliation! It doesn’t matter to The Hive that Meghan and Harry are from the Royal Family of England–they’ll flood anyone with death threats.

Billy elaborated on the protocols of meeting the Prince and Duchess, and it’s pretty much what you’d expect from uptight Royalty:

“What makes you nervous is the days leading up to it they email you a protocol of how you’re supposed to greet Prince Harry and Meghan. And they are very intense about it… You’re supposed to say ‘Your royal highness’, you can’t speak until your hands are, like, in a handshake with his… My plus-one, my guest I brought with me–my very good friend Jared–they said he had to stand behind me and not speak unless he was spoken to. I’m not kidding, I was like, ‘Does that same rule apply to Jay-Z? I don’t think so.’ I have a feeling it doesn’t.”

But Jared did end up getting one word in, and Billy said he and Meghan actually had a surprising bonding moment:

“Jared actually–I think he got to say ‘Hello’. What’s strange is that Meghan and I went to the same college here. We both went to Northwestern, we were both theatre majors and we were there at the same time. I didn’t know her when we were there… So we ended up having this very casual conversation about our acting teachers at Northwestern.”

But seriously, Beyonce wasn’t nervous. Beyonce was probably just acting nervous (and anyone who has seen Obsessed knows she’s the actress of all actresses) to soothe the nerves of Meghan and Harry who were obviously freaking out from meeting a God on earth. That’s definitely it.

Speaking of Beyonce, The Lion King: The Gift came out today and features a song with Blue Ivy Carter on it. It’s already won every single Grammy.
