Katy Perry Re-Bonded With Taylor Swift Over Cookies And Cats

It’s been exactly one month since the suburban tween girl version of the Hatfield-McCoy feud officially ended, and we’re once again living in a world where Katy Perry and Taylor Swift are giving each other big, dramatic study hall hugs at their lockers. We knew the ice began to melt after Katy sent Taylor a literal olive branch one year ago. But now Katy is filling everyone in on all the details. And it sounds like it was ripped out of The Taylor Swift Super-Fun Sleepover Handbook.

E! News says that Katy talked about it on the KIIS 1065 Kyle & Jackie O Show. Katy says the reconciliation was a “process,” and the process sounds complicated. As complicated as chugging apple cider vinegar without coughing and leaking leftover enema juice. Katy says it began with the olive branch. Then several months later, Katy started seeing Taylor at a bunch of the same Oscar parties with her boyfriend, Joe Alwyn. At one of the parties, Katy says she approached Taylor and said:

“Hey, you know, it’s been a long time, and I think we’ve grown up a little bit. And I just wanted to say I’m sorry, and that I’m really here for you, and that I love you and, you know, I hope that we can be friends in the future.”

Katy says they talked a little bit, and exchanged numbers. After some texting, they agreed to get together and talk. Taylor invited Katy to her house, but Katy only agreed to come on one condition, and his name is Benjamin Button.

“I said, ‘The only way I’m coming to your house is if I can hold your new cat.'”

Taylor must have agreed to pimp out Benjamin for cuddles, because Katy got to go over to Taylor’s house, where Taylor had baked her cookies. Katy stresses that Taylor really did bake cookies, and that they were delicious. Well, she can say they’re delicious now. I’m sure in the moment she was nervous that the extra ingredient was laxatives, and wondered if she was about to spend the next 8 to 10 hours on the toilet.

But Katy and Taylor didn’t just make up for the attention. They also did it to set an example for young girls everywhere.

“I think that both her and I, you know, we have influenced young people – and especially young girls who are in this type of situation day in and day out at school and are going through a similar type [of thing]. I can trust her and she can trust me. And we’ll see each other in the halls of the music industry and not avoid each other and we’ll embrace. And I think it’s amazing that we have this opportunity to change, and I just hope that other people can learn from it, too.”

It sounds like they really are on good terms now. Friends, even. But Katy loves being ~crazy~ so I’m sure that cuddling Taylor’s cat was her runner-up in-home request. First was suggesting they get together and entrap John Mayer, The Boy Is Mine style. Sadly, I don’t think they’re that fun. Plus, you know John Mayer would just be like, “Two chicks? Nice! Y’all wanna flip a coin to see who goes where? Heads gets the head, tails gets the tail.”
