Open Post: Hosted By The Marijuna Cake That Got A Dairy Queen Employee Fired

July 13, 2019 / Posted by:

It was a simple mistake, really. It could have happened to almost anyone. But it did happen to one Cassandra Walker, a Dairy Queen employee who was unjustly fired for creating that beautiful marijuana-themed birthday cake you see above. The thing is: it was supposed to be a Moana cake. Like the Disney movie about the Polynesian girl who saves the ocean? Easy mix-up.

Complex reports that a thick Georgia accent has probably gotten some people into trouble over the years. This time that person was Cassandra. Homegirl worked at a Dairy Queen and one day a lovely lady, Mrs. Davis, came in to request a cake for her daughter, Kensli. Her daughter was going to celebrate her 25th birthday and they’re huge fans of the Disney movie Moana, so she asked for the themed cake.

Problem is: Cassandra heard wrong and got to work on this 420-smokin’ My Little Pony weed extravaganza:

When Mrs. Davis came in to pick up the cake, she realized there was an error, but she’s no narc–she’s cool so she let it slide because it was probably the accent:

“I think they thought that she said ‘marijuana’ because we are from south Georgia and kind of have an accent. So, Moana, marijuana.”

Since the Davis family went home and enjoyed the laugh, you’d think this would be no big deal. Wrong: Cassandra was fired and she didn’t take it well:

“This is back-to-school time. I have two little girls here. I have a car that needs fixing. It’s not funny to me. The manager stood behind me while I pulled the images off the internet. She walked by as I decorated the cake. As I boxed the cake up, she was the one who walked it up to the front.”

Al Autry one of the owners of the Dairy Queen said this after the story got traction:

“This was a simple misunderstanding from the beginning. Our cake decorator designed a cake based on what she thought she heard the customer order. When the customer picked it up and said it was not what she ordered, we immediately apologized for the error and offered to redesign it the way she originally intended. The customer said it was fine, paid for the cake and left.”

But Cassandra is claiming cold-confection-corruption, and says Al is the one who fired her in the first place. She was offered her job back but didn’t take it. Yeah, don’t bother Cassandra. You’re too good for that place, anyway. And lets be real this cake is hardly offensive. First of all, legalize it! Secondly, there are much nastier things a My Little Pony could be doing:
