R. Kelly Arrested Again This, Time For Child Porn And Sex Trafficking

It’s a big yikes for everyone still defending R. Kelly. These weirdos who are willing to fork over hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend a guy who it seems highly likely is a sexual predator. And now R. Kelly has been arrested again and is being charged again this time for the not at all disturbing crimes of sex trafficking and child porn.

So R. Kelly is still being charged with all those other aggravated sexual assaults, this is a separate matter. NBC News says that 52-year-old R. Kelly was arrested last night while out walking his dog in Chicago. He was picked up by Homeland Security Investigations agents as well as the NYPD Public Safety Task Force. The arrest comes after a 13-count indictment from the federal court of Illinois for child porn, enticement of a minor and obstruction of justice. And in New York there was a separate federal indictment which is expected to have more charges to be revealed later today. A bail hearing is going to be held next week so Kelly can get comfy in jail for now.

One of R. Kelly’s attorneys, Steve Greenberg, said of the arrest:

“The agents were courteous and professional, as was Mr. Kelly… The conduct alleged appears to largely be the same as the conduct previously alleges against Mr. Kelly in his current State indictment and his former State charges that he was acquitted of. Most, if not all of the conduct alleged, is decades old.”

Maybe they found more tapes? Remember how one of Kelly’s former employees talked about there being more child sex tapes? Methinks these two things are connected.

But still, Greenberg is optimistic:

“He and his lawyers look forward to his day in court, to the truth coming out and to his vindication from what has been an unprecedented assault by others for their own personal gain. Most importantly he looks forward to being able to continue to making wonderful music and perform for his legions of fans that believe him.”

Really? We’re still talking about the whole music thing? Child porn and sex trafficking charges, and you’re trying to get your lawyer to book you a show? I mean…

Darrell Johnson, Kelly’s decades-too-late “crisis manager”, said that the legal team was expecting this. Which is like: how do you expect child porn charges…? Anyway Darrell says R. Kelly is innocent:

“Mr. Kelly has declared his innocence from day one. I’ve seen nothing, and I do mean nothing, that would lead to any type of guilt.”

Well maybe he didn’t show you the tapes, Darrell? Here’s the thing, the government probably charged you with child porn because they know you have child porn. It’s more explaining how it got on your computer. And I don’t think you’re working on a cohesive narrative so much as you are just denying things angrily. Which rarely works out. Meanwhile, I hope someone is out there trying to crowd-fund your bail, because I don’t know who’s gonna pay it this time. You sure won’t.
