“Breaking Bad” Fans Thought They Were Getting A Movie, Got Tequila Instead

July 10, 2019 / Posted by:

Breaking Bad has been off the air for nearly six years now, but that doesn’t mean the fans are done with the show. It still has an insane cult following. Breaking Bad fans are like the Little Monsters of the TV world. They’re the type who will show up at a stranger’s house years after the show ended and throw pizzas on the roof. And much like Gaga’s Little Monsters, they take to their keyboards when they’re displeased. Like how they let Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have it when they announced the launch of their new tequila company.

Last week, Page Six reported that it appeared Bryan (Walter White) and Aaron (Jesse Pinkman) were teasing something on Instragram. Aaron first posted a picture of two donkeys with the caption, “Soon.” It was followed by a picture of Bryan and Aaron somewhere in Mexico with the caption, “Even sooner.”

Even sooner

A big part of Breaking Bad was Walter and Jesse’s relationship to a Mexican drug cartel. Deadline announced back in November that series creator Vince Gilligan was reportedly working on a secret Breaking Bad movie, with filming happening between November 2018 and February 2019. Put all those clues together, and a lot of fans assumed the soon and sooner was referencing that Breaking Bad movie.

Yesterday, Bryan and Aaron finally revealed the big secret, and it was a tequila company.

Three years ago we sat in a sushi bar in New York. Talking about life and what we could possibly do down the road together. We had the time of our lives while shooting Breaking Bad and truly built a very special bond. Knowing that we couldn’t share the screen for quite a while – our thoughts turned to a new project. We sipped cocktails and thought about what it should be. The younger one looked at his drink and said, you know what we should do? We should do a really special Mezcal. The older one said, you mean the liquor with a worm at the bottom? Nah, that was just some bullshit gimmick, I mean real, artesanal Mezcal made by hand in Mexico. After that dinner we couldn’t get the idea out of our heads. So, we started traveling to Oaxaca to see if we could find it, and we mean it had to be “it,” something so damn good even people who don’t think they like Mezcal will love it. It had to be perfect or we weren’t going to do it. We searched high and low all over Oaxaca, met incredible people along the way and after a beautiful yet grueling search throughout that majestic landscape we believed we may have found our place. Our Mezcal. It was on a dirt-road, in tiny village, hours away from the center of town, we found it and it was perfect. Holy shit it was perfect. We looked at each other and just simply nodded. This is it. We named it Dos Hombres – two guys on a quest. It’s been a long and crazy journey and we couldn’t be happier to share this with you and the rest of the world. We are crazy about the taste, the aroma, and the versatility of this smokey, age-old alcohol. Try it, and let us know what you think. We are certain you will love it. Well, that’s our story. What’s yours? Go to Doshombres.com to get a bottle of your own. Follow us at @Doshombres and @Mezcal to hear more about Mezcal and Dos Hombres. — AP & BC 📷 @coryt

According to the Dos Hombres Instagram account, Bryan and Aaron have created an “artesanal mezcal meant to be shared with friends.” Poor George Clooney and Rande Gerber probably thought they had the lock on friendship tequila. Wrong! Both Bryan and Aaron write that they built a very special bond while shooting Breaking Bad, and decided to travel to Oaxaca to create booze. They also say that the project manifested itself after they realized they wouldn’t be sharing the screen for a while. Dos Hombres sells for $58 a bottle.

Some fans don’t think it’s the perfect drink to pour into their Los Pollos Hermanos mug. Page Six says the response ranged from comments that read: “Biggest letdown in history” to “DISAPPOINTED” to “WOWWW no breaking bad movie reveal. Who the fuck cares about this. Hyped up for nothing.” I’m guessing they won’t be pre-ordering a case?

But what those fans don’t realize is that they can easily take this meth and make methonade. There might not be a Breaking Bad movie right this instant, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be one in the meantime, with a little help from Dos Hombres.

Step 1: Buy a bottle of Dos Hombres

Step 2: Drink entire bottle of Dos Hombres on the couch while streaming Breaking Bad

Tequila drunk is a very special kind of fucked up. Their brain will be so blissfully soggy, they’ll think they’re watching a Breaking Bad movie. They might even like Skyler White this time around.
