Yesterday Meghan McCain and Joy Behar made everyone forget about Whoopi’s latest victim-blaming whoopsie when the topic around the table turned to Donald Trump. If you know how much Joy hates Trump and how much Meghan loves playing Republican’s advocate, then you know exactly where this is going.
Trump held a 2020 campaign rally in Orlando, FL on Tuesday night. Meghan – while looking like she was making a pit-stop on her way to a 2nd grade picture day in 1993 – tried to explain why Trump’s rally was packed by saying that it might not be that people love him, but that they hate the same things he hates. Joy chimed in, “Who? Black people and immigrants?“. We all know that hearing even the tiniest smidge of attitude in Joy’s voice activates the Mortal Kombat theme in Meghan’s head, and it was fight time. Because apparently we needed Part 2 of “Part of your job is to listen to me,” Meghan shot back:
“You know what Joy? I really come here every day, open minded, just trying to explain it. And it’s really not a fun job for me every day. I know you’re angry. I get that you’re angry that Trump is president, like a lot of people are. But I don’t think yelling at me is going to fix the problem.”
Whoopi jumped in and tried to cut to commercial, but Meghan didn’t take the hint and kept the Poor Meghan train rolling by saying, “But being the sacrificial Republican…“. To which Joy sarcastically replied , “Awwww.” That’s when Meghan turned her invisible tears into aggressive finger-wagging.
“Oh, don’t feel bad for me, bitch – I’m paid to do this, okay?”
Whoopi finally was able to go to commercial, but as she was cutting away, Sunny Hostin asked that they not call each other bitches, which Meghan responded, “Oh, Joy and I call each other bitch all the time.” Joy said she doesn’t care if Meghan called her bitch, and Whoopi defended Meghan by saying that they used to call each other bitch all the time but then “one of the people that was here” got upset about it and now that they’re gone, bitch is back.
Somewhere a smug Elisabeth Hasselbeck watched this, and she’s shaking her head in disgust. “Goodness gracious, the bar for mouthy blonde Republican co-hosts is just so low now. At least when I threw a childish expletive-filled temper tantrum at The View, I had the dignity to do it off-camera.”
