Hot Slut Of The Day!

The frustrated dad (as played by the late great Captain Lou) from Cyndi Lauper’s video for Girls Just Want To Have Fun!

Today is annual Thirst At The Pictures Your Facebook Friends Post Of Their Hot Dads In The 80s Working Nut-Hugging Shorty Shorts And Staches Day, so in honor of this blessed day for us hard-up hos, let’s pay tribute to another hot dad of the 80s: Daddy Dear from the zero-budget masterpiece video for GJW2HF!

I always thought that Girls Just Want To Have Fun came directly from the mind of Cyndi Lauper, but it was actually written by songwriter Robert Hazard in 1979. In 1983, it became the gigantic hit that made Cyndi a STAH. Wikipedia says that the video, which was shot in NYC in 1983, had a budget of only $35,000, but they made it happen thanks to people who worked mostly for free, as well as Lorne Michaels, who shared a lawyer with Cyndi, and let her use his fancy digital editing equipment for no charge. I’m not about to do a hard math problem on a Sunday, but I do wonder how many times Cyndi Lauper had to change her number throughout the decades, because people from the GJW2HF video have hit her up for coins since it turned out to be a huge hit and has over 760 million views on YouTube (and counting).

In the video,  Cyndi’s real-life mom, Catrine, played her mom, and Captain Lou played her OVER IT father who is still #1, but is tired of the phone ringing for her in the middle of the night and wants to know what she’s going to do with her life? Daddy Dear needs to stop. Yes, Cyndi is 30 years old her and is still living at home, but she just wants to have fun! Yes, Cyndi’s bedroom looks like Punky Brewster projectile barfed everywhere and she’s way too old to have a bunk bed, but she just wants to have fun! Cyndi is a 30-year-old girl who doesn’t have time for a job, which means she doesn’t have money to move out, and it’s all because she’s having fun and bringing strangers over to her parents’ apartment to have fun in her bedroom, which is fucking bigger than the whole apartment!

And poor Dear Dad, for being #1, Cyndi sure treats him like #987 since he dies in a party pileup at the end!

No, he didn’t die, and actually, Daddy Dear and Cyndi went on to form a dynamic duo. Cyndi made an appearance on The Super Mario Bros. Super Show (where Captain Lou played Mario) and also brought rock and wrestling together by doing WWE (then WWF) storylines with Lou.

Happy Father’s Day to all! And if you’re planning to have a PG dance orgy in your bedroom today, just make sure the strangers you invited over don’t trample your dad, or the single mom who has to be your dad too, to death. They don’t need that on THEIR day!
